Signs of Spring

This may not be my best video. I was in a hurry because I was late getting it to you and it was cold and wet and miserable and I didn't want to be out in the rain too long lest I catch a cold on this last day of winter. Besides I am a gardener not a technical whizz. Although I still have to do a bit of work on that intro... it is a bit... yeah well....

And tomorrow will be spring. It will probably still be cold, wet and miserable, but it will be a cold wet and miserable spring day and that is what counts!
Cheers Sarah : o )

Sarah, your end of winter looks a lot different than mine.  I live right in the middle of the U.S.A.  The state is called Nebraska and I have a zone 5b growing zone.  The last frost date is may 15th and the first frost date is October 15th.  We are in the last stages of gardening here and most of my garden is either totally spent or on the down hill side of peak harvesting.  It's very interesting to see your garden beds with so much space between them.  I have a vacant lot in the heart of the city that I bought for gardening.  The tillable garden that I have is about 60X100 feet.  I am finishing up a six foot wooden fence around a 60X60 foot section of that garden area.  It's to keep the deer out of the garden.  Now the raccoon will need more drastic measures to keep them out.  Half of my 160X168 foot property is wooded so a whole environment of wildlife live there.  I have deer, raccoon, groundhogs, wild turkeys, and many other birds and animals that think my garden is a buffet grown just for them.  I've discovered it's much easier to build a pen to keep animals in then it is to build a fence to keep animals out.  After the fourth season of no sweet corn,   it's become more of a challenge to defeat them than it is about actually harvesting the corn.  I usually give away most of the harvest any way.  I just like growing the plants.I hope that your Spring season will be a good one and I'll be following your videos for sure.Nebraska DaveUrban FarmerOmaha, NebraskaGRIT Magazine

How lovely to see all the signs of spring in your garden. Everything looks so fresh and green already. By the end of winter here in my area (another zone 5) all we have are shades of yellow, brown and gray. Your lambs are sooo adorable. I didn't know they 'left home' at such a young age. I can understand how hard it must be to do those feedings! Hopefully you will keep giving us updates on them as well as your garden. Thank you for the lovely video.

LOVELY video. Do you trim or cut back your Lavender? I started mine from seed also. They are 2 years old and very healthy. The plants are quite large. I hope they over Winter nicely. I harvested flowers this Summer and dried them for tea this Winter. Thank you for sharing your lovely gardens and critters.

That was lovely to watch with all the colourful flowers! I've been trying to grow lavender from seed for a while now without much success. Usually don't get good germination. Which seeds did you use?
