“Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?” No better intro to such a classic Christmas film than that, huh? The National Lampoon Film franchise has become a powerhouse collection, with one of the most famous being National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation - and also being my personal favorite. Written by the great John Hughes, who penned such classics as The Breakfast Club and another holiday favorite, Planes, Trains and Automobiles - this one does not disappoint. There’s just something about watching the pressurized chaos of a father trying to create the perfect Christmas memories when nothing will go right.

Does anyone else laugh or notice when Eddie is packing the cart full of dog food in the Walmart, the one thing Clark gets himself even if he's probably paying for everything anyway lol, is a pack of light bulbs and then Eddie plops the biggest bag of Ol' Roy right on top and you hear them shatter lol!

Randy Quaid steals every scene he is in and has some of the best lines. My favorite part is when Clark announces he's been enrolled in the jelly of the month club and Cousin Eddie tells him, "That's the gift that keeps on giving all year 'round." His mannerisms, his inflections are all perfect. It's a shame he went from playing crazy characters to becoming one. I really wish John Hughes would have created another character for Quaid and built a movie around it.

My favorite part is Aunt Bethany saying the Pledge of Allegiance at the diner table and how Clark looks at her. LOL!!!

The greatest Clark gets trapped in the attic and he finds some old clothes to keep warm and he fi ds the old home movies and he's watching and remembering and starts to cry and the family comes home from shopping and Ellen opens the attic door and he falls through
