The Earthshot Prize | The World’s Biggest Environmental Prize

This is the world’s biggest environmental prize! We travelled to Boston, one of America’s most sustainable cities, to learn more about why this city was chosen to host the Earthshot prize! Five finalists (one from each category) will be awarded £1 million each to further their work in conservation. The categories are 1) Protect and Restore Nature 2) Clean Our Air 3) Revive Our Oceans 4) Build A Waste-Free World, and 5) Fix Our Climate.

The prize title was inspired by US President John F. Kennedy’s Moonshot, or goal to reach the moon within the decade (1960s), and was created using a similar sentiment, encouraging all people to come together for the sake of global progress.

The project that touches my heart the most is HUTAN, though all the finalists have merit and I will be happy whomever wins. It is so necessary that people and wildlife coexist harmoniously, and the community plan is a small but effective beginning.

Are there government agencies or private entities where every ordinary people can send their ideas that could help solve problems in our world? These should be opened to all no matter who you are, where you live and whatever your status in life. There should be prizes or awards to those who contribute with significant benefits. These should be opened all the time without nomination needed.
