Guns n roses - Appetite For Destruction - The solos

I realized that over years I have covered most of the guitar solos from Appetite For Destruction - or at least one solo from each track. So i thought it would be a good idea to edit them all together in a video. I also realized that 35 years have past since i bought this iconic record - I remember that I was totally blown away.

I’d never really paid so much attention to the Rocket Queen solo, it’s pretty damn amazing, lots of intricate licks. Nicely done!

What the hell, 35 YEARS?? OMG, dude, you're completely... no way, here, I'll look it up, hang on a yeah here we go... wait what...omg... THIRTY FIVE YEARS!!!??? How is this possible? It just does not seem possible that it was THAT long ago that I sat in my Xerox-issued Chevy Celebrity station wagon full of computer parts, driving all around the Seattle area, with this cassette blasting over and over. Among other things we can credit GNR with, this was the album that drove me to trade in all my pedals and effects gear and go to just plugging a guitar into an amp. Reverb is almost exclusively the only effect I use, to this day. This album changed things. This album came at the perfect time. American rock music NEEDED this album to happen. We NEEDED those four brash young men to waltz in and knock our hats off and splash our drinks in our faces. This showed us what rock could be again. Oh, lest I forget, I loved your playing. Slash also got me to realize that blues is essential to rock, and your recreate his feel and emotion very well. =)

Great cover of the classic AFD solos. I remember when G n R played the Whiskey A Go Go playing covers and wearing eye makeup. That was a long time ago. And then! The originals came out. And when the record dropped it was phenomenal. A friend of mine was an apprentice in the studio with Mike Klink who produced AFD, said Slash was a class act, really cool dude. 🎸

I see so many guitarist playing Slash’s solos wrong, just like this video.
Slash does not do the palm muted, string rake thing.
Watch him closet during live videos and you will see it’s not a technique he has ever used.
Also, this is all in the wrong tuning.
