Album Review: Tiwa Savage's 'Celia' dishes out mixed feelings

Celia isn’t a poor album, but it’s not exceptional. While it has some really good songs, the album is mostly filled with lukewarm to good songs.
.
That said, props must go to Tiwa Savage for seeking songwriting help in a terrain that stigmatizes artists for seeking help. However, the delivery of some of those songs revealed that Tiwa Savage didn’t write them.

The best Nigerian album I have heard this year is Apollo from Fireboy. That album is a champion!

I Love the album tho. The sound n production quality was really awesome. #GLORY actually got me in my feelings. The lyrics were good enough. But I know Tiwa can do better than what she did with #Celia bc I know the real Tiwa is 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
But some other songs on the album, I felt they shouldn't hv been included Gaskiya. I'm a #SavageSoldier n will forever n always be a #SavageSoldier but this #CeliaAlbum would hv been better than what it is. I don't know how they selected the artists to feature on the album but some of em don't even need to be on the album Gaskiya, their vibe just no follow.
I don't know if her team actually listened to the album over n over again b4 giving her a go ahead to release this but I honestly expected better n I know Tiwa Has it all in Her (The Voice, The vibe, Drive, will power dedication n always pushing her envelope to achieve greater things. n I know when Tiwa sets a goal, she must achieve it). I just wish her team were really honest with Her with some of the songs. Anyways
I still love the album n #GLORY spoke to me directly. Thank You Tiwa Savage for such a life changing song. God bless ya!

This guy sounds very knowledgeable and gave a very objective review of the album, except that he hardly gave any examples. If you call a program "facts only", citing examples by mentioning songs on an album to back up any factual statement will be very helpful.
Only other problem with this program is the subliminal effort to make it look exactly like it was with the previous guy (Osagie, did a good job, love him or hate him). Perhaps Pulse or even this new presenter himself tried to make him look like Osagie (like a doppelganger). The camera angle (looking over the shoulder of the person asking the question) is unique but not necessary. Pulse should accept that it's a new person on the program now and besides the name of the program, it's not necessary to make it look exactly like it was with Osagie. Personally, I missed the program and what it addresses and I'm glad it's back; new presenters or not. My two cents.

This was a very informative session. But on the rape and women mistreatment and poverty in Africa, particularly in Africa. Tiwa has been speaking. Her 4999 song was big and it was all about that. As she said on Hot97, in the ordinary, as creatives are mostly focused on art most of the time, they tend not to identify these issues as they happen overtime. And it was because of the lockdown she got exposed to so mucb happening thats why she stood up and started acting. The we are tired movement was huge. Infact in the top 4 artistd i.e Wiz, Davido, Burna and herself. It seems like the guys are just concerned about their coins but she mentions these things in almost all her interviews. She's not identified as a feminist because she feels a woman can still be a great modern women and still uplift her culture. Feminists dont do that and you cant crucify her for that. Her song Koroba is speaking on women issues and it was supposed to be a benchmark on your discussuon about her influence and trend record but it was misunderstood instead. For real, shes doing the most than an average African woman.

If she removes one feature from one song. We won't say the name but knowing their style it just didn't feel right. It's as if the record label forced that feature to happen for that particular artist to tap into the African market. It's all about authenticity. Rema would have been a better feature for that song. That's the only song on the album that's a HUGE let down...true or correct?

I think Apollo was just average. The Production was just "Comfort zone" Production.
