China’s Tang Qianting came incredibly close to breaking the 100m breaststroke world record in the semi-finals at the 2024 Short Course World Championships, missing it by just 0.01 seconds. Her time of 1:02.37 is now the fourth-fastest ever (yes fourth, despite being 0.01 behind the record), and she’s poised to challenge it in the final.
