what I like about that last scene is that everyone on that room was playing their own spy bit

Best part is Ocelot also brainwashed himself to forget he brainwashed you and made you into Big Boss phantom.

Does anybody else get like this feeling of horror almost with this game and the crazy twists? It's like a military action thriller with the scariest twist.

The moment you realize going with Kiefer Sutherland was an important design decision... Because David Hayter is the only voice of SNAKE! This entire game was a rouse.

The story of MGSV is a hidden gem. Feels like retrospective melancholy. Just cool to be able to experience everything over and over again. Like a fading memory.

When I first played the game, I thought the ending was supposed to be a triumphant and maybe bittersweet moment where you get a pat on the back for all the years of support you gave to Big Boss over the course of the games.

Now after having played several times, having dug into the subtleties of MGSV, and understanding how it purposefully tries to trick you with unreliable narration and words that have double meanings, the ending is actually gut wrenching. The game makes being "Big Boss" feel amazing both with it's gameplay and cutscenes, when in reality the real message of the game is "You should NOT want to be Big Boss." When you look in the mirror at the end of the game and see "Big Boss", it's already over. You will spend a lifetime of battle seeking revenge that can not be quenched until you finally are killed, not even by the enemy but by your own hand in MGX.

"He's experienced all your missions ON RECORD"

Yeah we never play as John in MGSV, not in TPP and not in GZ either. GZ are the events the way Medic was told it happened plus how he imagines Big Boss would act, now how it really happened. For instance I don't think John saved any optional POWs but Medic does it, because he idealizes John. Kaz sounds surprised when you save people which I think was a hint from Kojima that this is unusual for the real Big Boss.

Ground zeros was probably just a memory going through phantom snakes mind. Which is probably why Kiefer Sutherland's voice was still used on ground zero's. It's whatever was in phantom snakes mind

1:02 It's crazy when Kaz and ocelot are talking about big boss at the end. Because at first (when venom snake finds "the man who sold the world" tape) I'm like "oh, this is how big boss recruited his double for himself" and I thought I had it all figured out. Then Kaz and ocelot are talking about how they gonna use venom as their "own big boss" and gonna use him, liquid, and soild snake to destroy the real one. I've haven't felt that mind-fucked since watching memento and inception back-to-back lol.

MGSV is often misunderstood because of the delivery of its narrative (mostly through cassette tapes in game). It's a great game overall.

I mean we didn't truly understand mgs2 until like 10 years later. Makes sense for this too.

The cool thing about the very missunderstood casette tapes are, that YOU are being fed the missions and information. A play on YOU assuming the role of snake as a player.

Its genious.

I actually went through the entirety of MGSV before I finished the Zadornov missions in Peace Walker, so I had no idea about Miller's betrayal until later.

So in MGSV (both GZ & TPP) we're playing as the medic from the very beginning. The title "Rival Living A Lie" should be given to venom snake himself

I'm not about to call Kojima an infallible genius. I mean -- nobody's perfect. But God damn. If the metal gear series can't convince you that video games are art, I don't know what will.

Years later and the game somehow still blows me away. Thanks for making this video very well done 👍🏼
