It’s so hard to actually comprehend that what we are seeing in this video is from the surface of a planet MILLIONS of miles away but if you really think hard about it, it’s mind blowing

I don't think a good majority of the public realize how amazing this is and the amount of engineering and minds it takes to get an suv sized machine to a place millions of miles away from earth. And the clarity of these images and the video of the landing are just astounding. I thank everyone who had a hand in making this happen so we can enjoy these images that only a few decades ago would be impossible.

I want to reach out and pick up that (calcite crystal?) in the middle of the last shot. At age 75 I'm certain this is as close as I will ever get to Mars, but...thank you for this. God, I wish Robert Heinlein could have lived to see this.

It is amazing to think that one hundred and seventeen years ago humans learned to harness powered flight. Soon Perseverance will launch a drone that will fly over the surface of Mars. Working together there is nothing humanity cannot accomplish.

This IS indeed a scientific achievement, a profound advancement of space exploration and of interplanetary geology. And this is just the dawn of a new era.
These views of a desolate Mars remind us, however, of how blessed and fortunate we Earthlings are in living in such a staggeringly beautiful 🌎 featuring such countless variation of bodies of water, landscapes, plant life, environments, marine life, and animal life!
