Ticking TIME BOMB!

This tree is ready to fail but who is going to get it done? Why is it still standing? Some questions are frustrating to answer. This really is a ticking time bomb of a tree failure. Huge old Bay tree

Love seeing you mill turning logs into project lumber!

That tree looks like a lawsuit waiting to happen!

It was neat to see your mill. We look forward to seeing more of it & the huge tree you speak of, as well as the cabin project.

A follow up video of the tree and cabin is definitely needed

Wow! How did that not come down during the wind storm. Good to see your property came through ok. I’m in Felton and still cleaning up my yard. We had a redwood branch spear our living room. A big tan oak fell across the road into my backyard. Just finished bucking it. I’ve got a call into you for a consultation. Can’t stop Mother Nature!

I am one of a number of writers-in who am eager to see the cabin build.

Will you be filming from the beginning?
Planning, foundation, etc?
Planks or logs after you get going?
Lights, wood stove & furniture? Or working or storage place?

"Are we there yet?"

It's great to see the Lucas Mill in a video again. Building a cabin sounds like a fun project. I hope you share some of the work on your channel.

I drove hwy 49 from Jackson to Oakhurst and over to Prather. Areas along 49 near Mariposa had big winds, trees down. Also to Prather but less so. I drove back to North Fork, down and across Reddinger lake/San Joaquin river, up to the top via Music Farm dirt road, where I lived 2014-16, to Auberry road and into Shave Lake. 50, 000 acres +/- all burned black as black. Almost no grass from Mariposa up to 5000 feet. I road my motorcycle in this acreage for years and it's all gone. I had a good veggie burger in Shaver

So in order to investigate the condition of the tree they completely girdled the trunk. Brilliant.

Kind of cool seeing a native species supporting another.

For some reason your videos stopped showing in my YouTube feed even though you are subscribed. I hadn't seen anything in over month and had to search your page to see that you've been active and posting videos. Can't stop the learning. Oh, and nice to see a bit more of your home.

In my limited knowledge, it looks like a relatively easy job for Blair if he bids it.

Don't forget to show us the cabin build. Maybe you'll get the job of bringing that mess down safely.

Cool idea for the build. Nice little stack of real lumber. That danger tree looks like someone to going to try and let nature take it down because of the danger of the split. The cuts look like a week or three old. The split looks like it been there a while.

Are you sure they chopped it to check for sound wood and not to kill it so it starts drying out and loosing the water weight?

That Bay tree is a for sure widow maker. I wouldn’t want to touch it.

It would be interesting to see how such a dangerous tree is taken down. Looks like with some good wind down it'll go.
Almost looks as though the chopping was to kill the cambiom layer since it goes across the entire split section of the tree.

that's a sweet sawmill you got there.

Ticking time bomb is not the word I'm sure, can't believe they chopped into it like that.
