Ive actually been struggling with this as well, I stopped almost completely drawing for an entire year or more and when i got back to drawing I got frustrated with how my art looked. I tried doing the same thing where i looked at other peoples art for inspiration but i felt like i just wasnt good enough and my expectations for my art eventually surpassed my actual skill level. Very tough to go through, i am currently trying to get out of this as we speak and i think im doing alright but this video has helped me feel less alone about all this.

I really appreciate you making this because I can relate a lot to this topic and I’m still trying to gain more confidence in my art but the point is everyone is different and you shouldn’t Compare yourself to others...

Even as someone who can't draw to save their life, I feel this with my profession as well. I love doing what I do in terms of editing but it's true what they say you are you're worst critic and everything becomes a comparing match whether or not it needs to be and if you can improve and how you should do so whenever. It's okay to critic yourself and make changes but it's better to take every new project as an experience rather than a task to alleviate that stress where you think you have to constantly be improving. Thinking like that helps clear preconceived notions you have and expectations for yourself and helps you naturally improve your work. We love what you do Sona, and we'll be here to support you every step of the way!

Usually I feel terrible about my art, looking at others art makes me feel useless. I never liked showing art to others, but I did get over with it.

Grrr I hate my art insecurities, I look at some really nice art all the time and go "How do they do that? Their colors are so nice. How do they have the patience to shade like that? How do they draw lineless? How do they make it realistic?" and that recently caused me to plunge into block for the millionth time, I haven't gotten motivation to do anything besides dumb doodles/only sketches for almost 2 months, one of the triggers for that mightve been how I got REALLY upset at myself for not being able to draw a beak from the front perspective without it looking wacky.

Anyways, thank you for talking about this, the whole art community, myself and others in the comments included, understand how this feels, you really are not alone, art insecurities suck, but we have your back

Your art is great! I think adding better portions to the eyes would make your art better, since they seem not spaced out enough. I’d think of it as imagining an imaginary nose in the middle of the eyes (since our nose in real life is in the middle of our eyes) and seeing if there would be enough space for the nose. If you do actually wanna add a nose in your art, go for it, but what I’m trying to say is that the eyes aren’t spaced out enough and the proportions are a little wonky. Thanks for reading, if you do actually find this.

This is how I see it. Art is a passion, and ist kind of looks like 1st. What I take out of it is the fact that it's YOUR passion is important. Not what anyone else wants. Love ya sona, keep doing what makes you happy.

I think that one thing that helped me a ton was practicing many different styles instead of using strictly only one, you tend to learn a lot from different styles and opening up to change in your own style can be really helpful in improving your art, even just being open to change is all you need. Also, not just style in general, try doing different shading techniques, if you find one you really like while you like your other one as well, try mixing them together! I’ve seen so many art pieces with two different shading styles combined and it honestly looks amazing. Keep at it!

Amazing vid, your art is awesome! I do have experienced some of these art insecurities myself, when i was 8 we had to make dolls and it was pretty epic. There was the "popular" kids and they made some pretty cool dolls, and i remember vividly someone was like "my doll doesn't like to talk to your doll because she had a smudge nose." i didn't feel too good about that and since then i always felt insecure about my art.

after watching this video it actually really inspired me to keep going with my art, because these past few days i haven’t really been drawing and like i’ve been starting to compare my art to others, and saying that “oh i cant draw” “they draw better than me” . which that is bringing me down a lot. But thank you Sona for sharing your situation bc that inspired me a lot.

As an artist in training, this really brought a lot of advice to me because I always look at other people's art and it makes me want to be better in a way. What I realized was that people have their own style of art, their own talent and skills to make their art theirs and your art your. (Also apologies for some bad grammar)

I love art. Art is a way for creators to express their feelings on paper. I've always loved art and I try to improve.

When I thought I was bad at art, I used compare myself to others for confidence. I do not do that anymore and neither should you. Now, when I feel insecure, I think of all the compliments I’ve gotten over the years ❤
