If you've ever whipped rope - basic technique when splicing or cutting an end of rope - to keep it from fraying, that's the overall look of your wrap.
However, whipping will hold your "handle" very secure, but also be removable..
Some basic braids, like cobra, sabertooth, pineapple, etc. will look better but not be easily removable.
Try "whipping" if you like the plain look. That light could be easily done in about 60 seconds.

To control that end piece tape it down and remove it when you get closer to the bottom.
