China Building Artificial Intelligence for Nuclear Submarines

The Chinese Navy is incorporating machine learning algorithms into its submarine technology. They are intended to help submarine commanders make better decisions. Mahcine learning AI can interpret large volumes of data, identify threats, and propose different options.

I fail to have anything to say other than “wow”

A reduction in crew is one thing - but to use AI in such a way that it becomes part of the subs systems never crossed my mind

This type of application if successful and accurate it its abilities would be a major turning point for use of AI in all naval warfare doctrine and all types of ships - thank god that there still is Human veto - as any miscalculation by the AI could result in a accidental exchange of fire or something even worse…

Btw u forgot to ask last video but what are ur thoughts on the Zui Hai Yun (drone ship) that was recently launched in China - u can type the name (as written above) and will see the ship and it’s design - very interesting and would be worth ur assessment if AI/Drones become a staple in Chinese naval warfare

I think they need to be very careful with AI. The Israeli Military apparently used it a lot and suffered for it on October the 7th and since then have used AI to help them target bombs, most memorably using the one called “where’s my Daddy?” thus proving that AI in the hands of the psychopathic enhances psychopathy. The officers of the Chinese navy might not currently be as arrogant as an Israeli but is it possible to always guarantee that…and ages ago I remember a Russian S350 air defence with AI but have not heard much more since; presumably that did not work so well or there’s be loads of AI in air defence (assuming it was really AI and not just automations using a buzz word).
