Thanks for talking about the specific differences between the 850 and 1000. I think you are the first to mention the larger radiator and fan! 👍🏼

Just after the 5 minute mark, you mention the 1000 is equipped with a parallel twin. Its actually a V-twin if anyone is interested. Thanks

This is the detailed review I've been waiting for from a provider.
Your reviews are honestly detailed.
Very thorough well thought out content.
Can you get your hands on an 850 max xtp for a review?
And maybe comparison with the polaris 850 touring two up trail model .
This was an excellent video great narration with no BS
Thanks for your time

Anybody who has ridden numerous modern ATVs knows how good the can am machines are. While the machines get a bad rap for reliability, In my experience people beat on these things like rented mules, making little to no effort to take care for them. My Renegade 1000 xxc has 8800 miles, ive had zero issues other than regular maintenance items that are all listed in the manual. Ride quality and performance, there is no better machine available.

Went and looked at the 1000XT today in red. Nice machines! Canam listened to their customers! None of you guys have mentioned on your reviews how nice the plastic panels fit. No more goofy tabs and grommets. The side panels actually “latch” into place….. you used to have to bend and contort them to get them in. It was a real p.i.t.a. Also….. nobody has mentioned the excellent accessibility to the CVT belt. It is so easily accessible now! The Gen 2 was a p.i.t.a. Unless you modified the foot-board. They’ve got new clutches, diff lock on the 1000’s, 4 wheel disc brakes on the 1000’s. The storage…. it’s one thing to see it on video but go see it in person…. there was some real thought put into these designs and they stackability or interactions between all the Linq stuff is soooo much better than the Gen 2’s. I don’t know why anyone would buy the 850’s. You get more options included on the 1000’s besides the extra power and there are no weight savings going to the 850…. so why take the 850? My 2017 1000R XT-P handles like garbage. Compared to my Gen 1 machine it corners poorly, side-hills poorly and is extremely tippy…. even with wheel spacers. My Gen 1 800 handled better! Well…. these new Gen 3’s have a slightly longer wheel base and a slightly wider stance so they “should” handle better than the Gen 2’s. I swore I wouldn’t buy another Canam after my Gen 2 but I believe I may have to eat those words. If these clutches work better then the Gen 2 garbage…. I’ll be buying one! Just want to hear how the clutches hold up before pulling the trigger. I’m not blowing $2, 000 CAD on clutches for an $18, 000 machine. Did it before…. NOT doing it again!

No rocking back and fourth to shift like on previous Outlanders, there I fixed it for you. I'll be a buyer if they are reliable, we'll know that after a year or two of use. My 23 850 Outlander Max has been rock solid for 1400 miles.

The killer with the 850 is the abscence of the 4lok front differential. Why do I need 1000cc for a difflock? That sux Canam.

No covers inside the front fenders to protect the rad from mud, sticks, sand, gravel and other flying debris.
The older gen had inner covers ...its a selling feature on quads and pick up trucks

Showa is stock on the base 850? That seems like a nice upgrade!

11, 200 vs 18, 000, yes it will change the ATV forever at that price.
I say 18, 000 because its 16, 500 plus taxes and dealer shipping and dealer fees.

It sounds like you absolutely will be able to get the full jam 100+ hp flashed into the 850. We did this with our Sea-Doo Sparks - love that BRP doesn't care.

When you said the 850 has a 998cc engine detuned, I almost turned it off… then when you said parallel twin… I was done.

Polaris Scrambler XP1000 S has already changed ATV’S forever and my friend and I both wouldn't have anything else.
Ones you go 55" with 14" suspension you can't go back.
Well my Scrambler XP1000 S has 81" wheelbase and 60" wide with 32x10x14 Roxxzilla Competition for hill climbing.

What?! The 850 is a 999cc engine?! Usually, makers round up on the cc size, not the other way around. That's kind of dumb to say your engine is missing 150 cc's when it's really actually all there!

Great review, but I missed the part where this “will change atvs forever…”

Been holding off on buying a Polaris xp1000 sportsman because of some reliability concerns but like how they look and ride. Looks like canam upped the ante with these units… now I have a tough decision to make!

Anyone know if Polaris will be upgrading their bigger 850/1000 sportsman units anytime soon? If not, I might splurge on the canam 1000

Getting the cheaper version and just buying Elka's seems like the way to go.

I’ve owned nothing but CanAm XT850’s and although it’s nice, CanAm has improved the frame, alternator for more lights and accessories for 2025… the shocks are junk but I rather upgrade myself than pay a-lot more for junk SHOWA’s. I drove a Polaris Sportsman 1000 S and in terms of comfort and handling, it destroys CanAm outlander in every aspect. I just don’t know what the reliability is like for Polaris.
