Wow Vasilis, you do know what we are talking about here! Cool.
This video was made to translate and explain in a more friendly way the process, but there are lots of deeper details and huge efficiency studies to find the sweet spot. Thanks for your contribution.

Only in light wave conditions would a non bulbous bow be an advantage. The main advances shown here, are the engine and the propeller design .

I have done research to reduce drag in tankers. And how to reduce impact of huge waves on off shore oil platforms.

The phenomenon you are talking about is called wake reduction which is caused due to the reduction of the relative speed of propeller and water due to water flow following ships movement. What you must keep in mind is that, overall, the hull of the ship is designed to increase propeller efficiency due to the streamlines of the water converging at the stern of the ship, which gives an increased propulsive efficiency compared to propellers open water efficiency.

Hope to be onboard on one of those tankers someday

Everything sounds great and all, but I'm not sure I like the removal of the bulbous bow, generally it increases the streamline of the bow.

what software do you use for ship modelling above?

Great work on this video. Well presented.

Meh i like to stay with the bulbous bow its better.
Also just wondering why not add a high gear transmission? Doest’t let the ship move faster?

So what purpose does the bulbous bow server?

Why reduce blade amount?
Wouldn't that push less water in each revolution?

I have heard that placing the propeller at the bow, facing foreword would also increase the efficiency of the propeller. Somebody should try that.

I don't get why they still put the propeller faced the wrong way (with the hull moving water away from the propeller. If they turn the propeller shaft around and let the propeller take in untouched water (this is why the propeller of an aiplane is on the front of the plane, not at the back). This saves a lot of energy, and some smaller boats already have this

I thought that the bulb at the bow of the tanker was designed to break the water up before it hit the bow? It now looks like older designs. In any case ill take two.

I'll take 14, can you post them?

One of those parachute sails would help with fuel, give the crew something to do.

They had to take away the Bulbous Bow because the deck officers today are so bad at math, reading, writing and figuring out GM that they have a computer do it now. Bulbous Bow helps the over all stability of the vessel to counter the effects of : heave, pitch, roll, surge, sway and yaw.
