I discuss the legislative wrangling that is taking place to get this wildly unpopular bill rammed through Congress.

I totally agree with Congresswoman McMorris Rogers. Thank you for voting no on this mess. I agree that the health care system needs help but not this take over. AARP, they look out for the AARP.

Ah, to be among the true believers, breathing only the clean air of sanctimony. Nothing is ever done, no lives improved, no laws passed. No messy deals tarnished by the poison of compromise. The public hates you — every poll shows that voters want both sides to legislate with a mix of ideas. But, oh, how good it must feel to be right all the time. -Tim Egan

I recently had an inner cheek fibroma removed because it was interfering with my chewing process. My United Health Care Insurance eventually sent me a check for $16.00 after I paid $576.00 out of pocket expenses. My monthly premiums for this insurance policy are near $1200/mo. The medical insurance companies game the system for profit and Americans will be forever screwed under the current system.

By the way, the bill has now been endorsed by the AMA and AARP.
---
In a statement Friday, AARP said the legislation "will improve health care for older Americans and their families." The bill gradually closes the "doughnut hole" coverage gap in the Medicare prescription drug benefit and limits insurance companies' ability to charge higher premiums based solely on age, AARP said.

Health care reform will cause us to lose our rights and freedoms? Tell that to people in Canada, the UK, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands... or pretty much every other developed country.

As for "it costs too much for the government to administer the program"... Medicare has *lower* overhead costs than private insurance. If you're worried about efficiency, you ought to be proposing single-payer (Medicare for all) - more reform, not less.

Do you also expect all the Republicans who used it in past Congresses to be brought up on charges of treason, including Speakers Newt Gingrich and Dennis Hastert? That would be interesting.

Your words are falling on deaf ears. She doesn't care about health care reform or the American people: she's just blindly following her GOP bosses. Lying about Medicare, pretending this "deem and pass" strategy is something new, bleating about "market-based" reforms that won't help anyone who can't afford insurance... it's the same thing you'll hear from every other Republican.

Spokane deserves better representation than this.

This bill will benefit those of us who have health insurance, too: less discrimination and no more "preexisting condition" exclusions. Most Americans who go bankrupt due to medical bills are actually insured, but their insurance doesn't cover them when they need it the most.

BTW, if you can "take care of yourself", why do you need us to pay for your roads, fire departments, and police? Why can't you just "leave us alone" and never use any government funded services? (Sounds pretty silly, huh?)

Sounds like someone doesn't understand the meaning of "option".

Since the public option would be funded by premiums -- just like private insurance -- the only way it could be a threat to private insurance if it's *more efficient*.

"Deem and pass" was used hundreds of times by Republicans under Gingrich and Hastert. Where were your objections to this "Orwellian and un-American" process then?

Boy, I feel like I'm watching a FOX news commentator! Same old rhetoric... using words like "radical" and "unAmerican". The fear factor plays big with you Republicans. So let's just sit back and do nothing Congresswoman. The fat insurance companies would love that! This bill is a start. It can be tweeked and modified, but we need to start health insurance reform now!
