📚Description: Gibson revamps the less-than-successful 2022 Faded series by putting pickup covers back on and adding 1 additional finish option on each of the 50s and 60s necks. Will this be enough to win over the market? It might seem like a small change, but I like the look of these much better and was plenty happy with the wood mine was made of!

8:40 Yes, the thin satin finish is very thin compared to a full on gloss.
The gloss instruments receive several coats of clear over the scraped binding, these coats tend to blend and level the junction point of the binding and body, which is then buffed and further blended/leveled. The satin finish is just a couple of light coats and no buffing (a significant production time and cost savings).

Lovely! I always feel like the more natural finish in the back, is much nicer than the red.

That's a pretty fantastic top exclamation mark

It did not miss the final buffing step.thats not how it works
For a flat, satin, or eggshell finish there's an additive put in the clear wich kills the slick glossiness.there is no sanding or buffing on a satin finish

Love the looks of that guitar. All around. Actually really like satin finishes as well. It’s a keeper.

4:59 Gibson doesn't "Brush it on", an Air Spray Gun is used to apply burst finished.
You should take a tour of Gibson USA, and video record it so we can all go along!

That is a good looking guitar. Love the plain back as well.

One thing I really like about the 50's and 60's Gibson Les Paul Original line is the pickups sound great. I feel like they give you an authentic classic Les Paul tone which I imagine a lot of people who pick up a Les Paul for the first time are expecting. I have a 2021 60s Standard that I swapped the pickups to a JB/Jazz combo so that I modify the wiring, but I most definitely would have at least kept the original pickups if they were 4-conductor to at least hear how the mods sound with them first since I really like their raw rock sound in the regular configuration.

I actually dig these satin standards. Currently have a regular 60’s Gibson Les Paul standard in ocean blue. Need to chill out on major purchases for a little bit, but next guitar, I’m going to consider one of these.

Which amp and overdrive pedal do you use? Your dirty tone is always amazing.

I just bought a Gibson ES 235 and I love it.

That top is amazing!! I'd have it polished into a gloss finish and it'd be even better <3

Great jams Austin and this one sounds great!

That maple looks great. I don't think you want perfect "book matching" in a new guitar because that just screams veneer! You really got lucky.

Satin necks are so much nicer than gloss necks!

That sounds great but gibson QC is just wild this isnt a $500 import.

These look and sound really good. Not too shiny and without loads of figuring but enough wood grain on the top to be interesting. It reminds me of some of the natural Raw Power models with regular humbuckers that were available in the early 2000s.

The top finish appears to be halfway between that of the classic verse from 1958 and the sort of tobacco Sunburst model that Tommy Shaw was seen playing in the late 70s with Styx. More than some, it was reading about Tommy playing an instrument like that that did a lot to activate my desire for a Les Paul.
