In the books he thinks that if here were to choose between having his hand back or Joffrey, he would choose his hand without doubt

Olena Tyrel: tell cersei, I want her to know it was me.
Jaime: what was you?
Olenna: ...I poisoned joffrey.
Jaime: who?

He didn't really feel like he was his son. Years of pretending differently convinced him, his subconscious to detach himself from his kids.

Jamie knew that cruel and terrible kings needed to die, and knew it better than anyone.

Everyone was glad apart from Cercei. 😂

I think the passage is meant to reflect more on Jaime's codependency with his sister than on his opinion of Joffrey. Cersei's attitude comes first, even now, and this is a tragic enough moment he realizes maybe it shouldn't, maybe he ought to have some feelings of his own, or at least know what they are.

Reminds me of when my grandmother told me my "dad" was dying from Covid. I immediately rushed to my car didn't even tell my boss what's up. By the time I got the key in I realized she was talking about my biological father and not my step-dad. Went "oh that sucks" and got back to work

Because he knew Joffrey was a monster, he cared way more when Marcella died, and showed true affection for her

“Why was it that he felt so little”
Because Jamie saw The Mad King in Joffrey.

Joffrey never even treated him like an uncle let alone a father cause you realize both Jamie and Tyrion love Myrcella and Tommen with all their hearts and looked after them and cared for them but when it comes to Joffrey it’s like he’s just a Lannister and “Prince”

Joffrey probably reminded him of the mad King which gave him PTSD.

He felt so little because he knew. In the words of Sensa, "he's a monster."

Later he asks Cersei why he should care about Robert’s bastards. “They’ve never called me father.”

I believe he was truly detached from him due to having no real fatherly bond with him, and knowing without the rose colored glasses….who and what Joffrey truly was and is.

Bobby B, thinking the boy is his: nah this kid sucks, but his mamma hot
Jaime, knowing the boy is his: nah this kid sucks, but his mamma hot

Because he knew deep down that his oldest son was evil to the core

I just noticed an Easter egg, both Robert and Joffrey are seen wearing the gold antler crown to represent the stag, but at Joffrey‘s wedding, the antlers are in twined with rosebuds for high garden and Marjorie. Nice touch, now I want to watch it back and see if thomond wore the same crown at his wedding.

Ned stark is like the audience cause he acts as if it's his first time going into this... And like beeing alive.

At some level... he probably was relieved he didn't have to do it this time.
