It will be fun watching you plan and move into a new sewing room. Since we moved into this house almost 20 years ago my sewing room has moved from the large front bedroom, to the back large bedroom. Then my grown-up son moved home for 3 weeks which turned into 5 years and he moved into my sewing room. He moved most of my shelves and supplies either into the attic or into the back downstairs room which was only heated by a woodstove. Well that wasn't working for me. My 2 grandchildren each had their own bedroom her so they agreed to share on room where visiting and I moved most of my sewing into the smallest bedroom. I eventually just moved my sewing machine to the dining room and kept a few supplies in a cupboard there also. Well my son moved out and my husband painted the large back bedroom a pretty punk and put in a new laminate floor. I found a large dining room hutch at a Habitat for Humanity store that was perfect for storing fabric. I have been in my new sewing room for a year and love it. I do need a new light. My OTT daylight broke and what I replaced it with is quite awkward in my new space. Hopefully I will soon find what I need. It's interesting where we sewists can figure out a space to work in.

Yes Ruan, talk us through your sewing room set up!! As you know, I've been caring for mom fighting cancer. We are moving into her home to care for her. I have to figure out how to combine a guest room & a sewing space for myself. So, this would be very helpful. Can't wait to see. 😀

Your new lamps look fantastic. The struggle for light is real in the winter. I’m nearly on the verge of using a headlamp in my sewing space, so I might need to investigate 😂
I bought a great neck light from Amazon for my cross stitch at night. Sort of a double ended light that sits around your neck and can be moved around on each end, it works wonders. I ended up buying one for my Nana to read with too, and she wouldn’t be with out it now.
Can’t wait to see your new sewing room, such an exciting project to look forward to after Christmas! Happy planning!
