The launch of ChatGPT less than two years ago sparked an AI frenzy that has fueled talk of a fourth industrial revolution. Silicon Valley names grab much of the attention, but perhaps the bigger changes are felt in Taiwan. The island's businesses and markets have shifted as a result, shaping individual fortunes. Bloomberg's Annabelle Droulers has more.

It doesn't matter how many times the Chinese regime repeats the *lies, *
or how *angry* it pretends to be,
- Taiwan 🇹🇼 is still an independent country.

Not sure how the semiconductor factories in Germany (Intel, TSMC) can be competitive in the future, without great state subsidy? I'm too afraid to ask German government this question. 🥺

I wish South American countries had this type of problem ("economy growth with more billionaires"). Our GDP is the same from 2010... sharing poverty

They say development is important in machine warfare, but production is more important. Nvidia is excellent, but TSMC is the best company in the world. Just as parents give birth to children, machines will make anothor machines. Only TSMC can do cutting-edge processes. The US should protect Taiwan from Chinese crimes because of TSMC. Also, the US should grow Intel Foundry for security.

Would be nice if the poorest got richer.

To achieve long-lasting peace, Taiwanese firms need to stop helping expansionist Chinese regime technologically, especially in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence.

As a Korean, SAMSUNG can share the foundry market with TSMC.

These days, Koreans are not happy with a such a big gap between the two companies.

They do not want SAMSUNG to win the TSMC, just to reduce the gap, just about 15 % more. They hope.

They are sad with the big gap. This large gap is a big Issue in Korea every day in every newspaper.

Bloomberg Please help us 😢😢
I write with deep sorrow and concern. What we are witnessing in Taiwan is not just the persecution of Ko Wen-je, but the collapse of judicial integrity. A judge initially released him due to lack of evidence, yet within days, another, with political ties, ordered his detention—without proof. This is not justice; it is political coercion.

Ko has been subjected to 70 hours of interrogation, not for crimes, but for daring to exist outside political control. Details of his case are leaked to the media, poisoning public perception before a verdict is reached. This is not an isolated case; it is a warning to anyone who opposes the state’s power. Today it is Ko. Tomorrow it will be anyone who stands in their way.

I urge you, and all who believe in freedom, to recognize the danger. When a state weaponizes its judiciary, tyranny is not far behind. The freedom power must act before it's too late.
