Testing Laser Lights on a 2023 Audi Q7

This 2023 Audi Q7 is equipped with "HD Matrix-design LED headlights with Audi Laser light." The Matrix portion is not enabled from the factory, but the Laser lights are, and work in conjunction with the automatic high beams. When the automatic high beams come on, and vehicle speed is above ~40 MPH, the laser lights are supposed to come on (dashboard indicator will show a laser icon).

However, I was skeptical that the laser lights were actually turning on as I couldn't perceive any difference in light output with the lasers on versus off. Therefore, I attached a GoPro to capture the headlamps to confirm that they are in fact turning on as designed. Looking at the in-car footage, it is very difficult to tell when the lasers are on -- in these conditions, they didn't seem to make any difference at all.

Back to the Matrix lights, there are some people who can, for a fee, enable the Matrix lights via coding (I am considering this service). For an additional fee, they can enable the "blue laser light." I was unclear whether this meant enabling the laser function itself or if it was just a blue ambient light, again because I didn't believe the lasers were actually turning on. This test helped me confirm that I would not need to purchase this add-on, since the laser lights are in fact turning on.

In-car camera: Viofo A139 Pro dashcam
Headlamp camera: GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition (very old but still works)

Love the color, just picked up a 23 prestige with the same spec minus the laser lights

The headlights look pretty cool with the laser but don't seem to do much at all. The highbeams on the q7 are already pretty good. This makes me feel better that I dont have the laser haha. I would def recommend the matrix activation as it is much more useful and safer
