Talking to U.S. students about their China experience

Trade and politics are not the be-all and end-all of China-U.S. relations. People-to-people exchanges and grassroots interactions do matter when it comes to shaping views and opinions, and go beyond biases and prejudices. And the sooner the better. The Hub sat down with two American students who have enrolled in a summer program of Young Envoys Scholarship organized by the China Education Association for International Exchange to discover China and the Chinese culture. What drew them to Chinese culture and language? How do they assess the present state of China-U.S. relations? "There are multiple opportunities in China," one of them remarked. The other young man envisions a career in diplomacy between his own country and China. He believes that getting to know each other is essential.

These young men have wonderful attitude in life and positive open mind. Will be great if more Americans are like them exploring China for themselves with their real own experience in China instead of "understanding" China through western media lenses ... Chinese is a difficult language to learn and they took the effort. Great respect!
