I am white female 68 years old. I travel and camp with my dog occasionally. It is wise to be cautious. Women are preyed upon. I respect that as a black woman there are additional concerns. I listen to your story and come away with more insight. Thank you .

I'm so glad you kept going even after your scary beginning. I worry about being on the road alone as a female but I never considered how much scarier it could be for a woman of color on the road. Keep listening to that intuition!

Yes as an AA woman living this life you have to listen to your inner spirit. I have moved several times just because it did not feel right.

Strong suggestion... I do a lot of boondock camping in national forests, and one thing I always do when I look for a spot to set up camp, I always drive around the area first to see who else is camping in the area. I do this so that I know what is around me. Basically, if there's are any shady, questionable looking people nearby, I will likely go somewhere else. But it's just really good to know who is nearby, in case you get an emergency situation as well. But another thing, I always have a 9 mm with me when I am out camping.

You did the right thing. The best protection you have for your safety is your intuition and knowing to trust it.

I have never seen any of your videos but just came across you and watched. As a single white I would have moved to! I always listen to my gut. I can't even imagine being a black female out in the wilderness. I raised my 2 son's alone and I never took them camping because even being It never felt safe. I'm so glad you didn't give up and your sharing your truth. It can be a cruel world but as long as you listen to your inner Life's path can be a little more smother. Blessing ❣️

Abiyah, as a single white lady age 58, I feel the same way. I worry about people following me and breaking in. I dont walk alone. I have 2 little guard dogs. One is 16lbs, the other is 8 lbs with 2 teeth. Lol they let me know when others are near. Stay safe.

As a solo female traveller I think we have to be careful, I always avoid anywhere isolated because these days you can't trust anyone.

Yes you did the right thing they were watching you for a long time even before they pulled up and one got out to use the restroom they didn't leave for a reason. They knew you were alone with your dog. My mother would always tell me someone is always watching you never forget that thank GOD you listened your feeling's. Stay safe and always observe your surroundings 🙏

It's great you paid attention to that gut feeling. Wether real or paranoid. That same felling kept me from being robbed and vanjacked in Texas. I felt what was about to happen fired up the van, just as they mode there move. I had video of there faces and car just incase.

You’re absolutely right to listen to the “still small voice” Self defense is not an issue with me - was a Marine and have a black belt- but I too have left a campsite because of feeling uneasy Glad you stuck with it nothing better than the peace your soul feels while in nature’s quiet

I car camp a lot and I’m hearing impaired so I always try to camp around places that there is families. I will tell you that I have had 4 incidences while camping someone has come into my space ! 1. Going to a state park bathroom 2. Koa campground in New Orleans at 1:30 am 3. A good Sam campground 4. A overnight stay at a Pilot travel center So now I make a mental note that it could happen again . Times are different now and people are more aggressive at what they want . I never get out of my car at night . I never go into public restrooms in isolated areas. No overnight stays in isolated areas . Trust no one even at paid campgrounds . It’s good to know a little self defense too.

Abiyah I hiked with two of my friends yesterday, who were caucasian. The park had such a nice vibe. It was open, well landscaped, and beautiful. I saw several people hiking alone. I thought to myself, "I can hike this one alone." Then I started thinking, "All of these people are white. That is the difference. I'm the only minority person I've seen here. If I passed someone in a remote area who noticed that I'm Black, it might be different for me than it would be a single white female." So I'm not thinking about hiking there alone because of that. So, I understand your thought process there. My solar is not charging my batteries. I have an electrician who is going to fix it for me. Once the van is set, I hope to meet you on the road. All Praises!

I'm so glad you never gave up on van life. Watching your video inspires me.
I will be a solo female Traveler once I am able to hit the road and I to worry and I'm a little scared. But I want the adventure, I want the freedom, and I want the peace that you find on the road. I truly believe also that you should follow your gut instinct . Safe travels.
