CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Brian (William Baldwin) sits scared as Stephen (Kurt Russell) charges into a fire, saving the life of a little boy.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
The sons of a Chicago fireman who gave his life in the performance of his duties, firefighting brothers Kurt Russell and William Baldwin carry their lifelong sibling rivalry into their work. Russell is convinced that Baldwin hasn't got what it takes to remain in the fire department. Baldwin is transferred to a "safe" assignment, assisting arson investigator Robert DeNiro, who is trying to make sense of a series of fires involving an oxygen-induced ball of fire called a backdraft. The investigation reveals a link between corrupt alderman J. T. Walsh and imprisoned pyromaniac Donald Sutherland. The trail of evidence leads Baldwin to suspect that his brother Russell, a much-decorated hero, may be the "inside" man setting up the arsons.

If you don't get chills when Kurt Russell comes out with the kid then you don't have a pulse.

I agree, very dramatized the bits about the firefighter taking on the fire, but the scenes about family tradition, love for the job and loss of brothers is very, very true.

One of the best Action movies of all time. The fires in this film seemed something of the supernatural. As if it were an actual being.

Backdraft has so so many things wrong with it but damn is it a fun ride. You know you did something right when a firefighter can pick apart every aspect and we still even love it

Completely unrealistic, but one of the greatest movies of all time

"Look, Brian.... It's not about being a hero. I went in because there was a kid up there."

I think what made this movie intense is how they made the fire seem like an actual monster eating it’s way through everything in its path.

Axe's face when he fires the firehose with the music is just bone chillingly badass!! Like an A-10 Gun Run at the last second when needed 💪👌❤️🇨🇦

It's a movie. Every cop movie has car chases and extended shootouts, both of which are rare in real life. When I was hired in 1977, wearing SCBAs at fires was optional, highly recommended but still optional.

shout out to Nick Bostic, the Indiana pizza delivery guy who actually did this on a bigger, hotter fire. But with 5 kids, not 1. Hero.

I love the look on his face when Stephen comes marching through the smoke with the kid in hand. That utter amazement of his big brother. Kinda like seeing Superman for the first time but better because it’s real. (Yes I am aware this is so unrealistic that it might as well be Superman given how heat, smoke and air pressure should’ve seen Stephen fried to the bone in a matter of seconds).

Of all the great scenes in this classic, it's the scenes with Donald Sutherland that are the best...

Anyone else remember the Backdraft ride at Universal Studios Hollywood in the 90s? It was hot.

This will always be one of my favorites. I always loved how Stephen and Ronald both considered the fire a sentient creature, just from opposite sides of the coin.
