I am using a 115" wide, 2:35, Seymour screen with the XD Centerstage material. I have had this screen for about 9 years now and love it. It has been paired with a RS4810, RS500 and now the NX7. More than likely I will move into a NZ800 in 2025. At that point, I might upgrade to a different Seymour material since the extra gain will not be needed as much. My speakers are the Triad Gold LCRS. I only have the Center behind the screen. The L and R speakers are flanking the screen behind columns. It gives me a magnificent front sound stage.

I just got installed yesterday in my theater Seymour 140” wide 2.4 to 1 screen. My front 3 speakers are behind the screen and it looks great. Using the JVC nz9 with it and because of throw distance I am using zoom to fill. My old screen was a 120” 16:9 screen and that worked great. Even though mostly I watch 16:9 content (tv, sports, video games) I felt that watching a movie was down grade because of the black bars. My 16:9 works out to 120” (same as old screen) and for movies getting 151”. Now I have the best of both worlds with masking panels.

Nice..I live in a 16x72 ft mobile home and My front room is 16x24...I installed a 150" Dalite white matte screen with SVS evo titans and (2) center channels for my surrounds..I cant use a perforated screen as I have wall mounted a Lg c3 oled as my main tv..behind the screen mounted on my wall..using a Benq ht 4550i 4 led projector..My veteran friends that come over are amazed..no one could visualize what I have in a trailor....I like watching All your video's and Youthman's..As a disabled vet..I am blessed to have this..Thanks keep up Your great video's..

You’re going to be amazed by the difference. I have a Stewart Studiotek 130 AT 140” 2.40 paired with a Sony 6000es with Arendal 1723 monitors behind the screen. It’s a great pair. Great video and can’t wait to see your new setup

Agree that an AT screen is the way to go for best audio and front sound stage. However I would temper expectations for better image quality than what you have now. At your seating distance you are limited to Seymour UF2 or Enlightor-Neo materials so you don't see the weave. These materials are significantly lower gain than what you have now and won't be quite as sharp. It's a trade off going AT particularly at closer seating distances. Many feel it's still worth it including me.

I know this will be awesome. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.

If you have chance, and if your seating etc. allows for it, have you thought about placing the new screen a bit lower down?
If you can get the head height closer to the mid-point of the screen, I really think it can add a lot to the immersion.

(it would also help get the height of the center speaker closer to the main Left/Right pair, and give more separation from the front heights.)

I have a radiator directly under my screen, so I'm limited as to how low I could place the screen.

I got my first acoustically-transparent screen only about a year ago.
All my speakers are now RSL, with three CG23M behind the screen. They're not really designed to be in-wall speakers, but I forced them to fit. lol

One strange thing I noticed with the speakers behind the screen (speakers placed vertically, with the tweeters half-way up the screen), is the voices from the center channel often sound like they are mostly from *below* the screen still.

I think this is because my screen and speakers are too high up on the wall.
Which is another good reason to lower the screen, if possible.

I don't know if it's a psycho-acoustic thing due to our lack of ability at determining elevation of sounds, or maybe the disperstion pattern of the RSLs placed vertically?

Ohhhh yeahhh. Look forward to seeing this transition. Just to be clear, you’re going w Seymour Excellence or Seymour AV? I currently have a Seymour AV w XD material 142” scope w magnetic masking panels and it’s been great. I’ve recently been considering an upgrade myself. Mostly because I might wand a bit higher gain and a 2:1 AR config.

Just a thought, not sure if ya mentioned this, but I think it would be cool to try putting your center channel behind the screen along with one of your subs paired with the center channel and calibrated those speakers together for super full range center! Unless of course you get a matching center to go with your LR as the center.. even then, if you have the equipment, I think it would be really cool to try out the large center with subwoofer behind the screen if calibrated correctly! 🎉 the imaging and dispersion could be really cool!! 🎉

I just installed a Seymour AV AT screen and paired with the LS12000 it is the best.

Nice....I want to get to this someday. Do you know a good room calibration person/company is Houston? I'm out in Cypress...

Picture Quality, If you are doing a like-for-like ( same gain, same material ), you will not find any difference.
AT screens are great and will give you the most significant benefit, try to get the whole front stage behind the screen. and masking :O that is a game changer.
Great news :)

Did your friend upgrade his dragon subwoofers. Did he go with 2 12 inch subwoofers and 2 8 inches subwoofer. What difference did it make. Did he go with a mod like me who ordered the Elac Rs 700 to replace the Nakamichi subwoofers.

Hey Jordan, what are you using for your LCRs now?

Having a solid not transparent screen with multiple layers for better quality images in gain and pixels plus preventing any light or brightness loose is not better?
Not a specialist but I am looking for a screen myself in a controlled light room with a laser projector (valerion pro max) and looking around is way too much information and opinions are very confusing, space for speakers I don't need them behind in my case planning to use a 7.2.6 setup
Thank you very much

Surprised you are not going with DIY — Seymour AV.

Come on man.

I'd replace your screen too. What seat distance do you have, 3-4 m, then in 21:9.
You don't need MadVr, or Lumageen or anything like that.
Have you really exhausted all the dynamic functions of the Epson LS12000? You can really enhance HDR with them and the difference to maVR is no longer that huge.

Acoustic transparent is the way to go. I recommend testing out different screen materials. Are you looking to do a faux wall as well? Is your LS12000 calibrated?
