Boris always trots out two arguments for remaining in power: the mandate he received at the last General Election and the need to get on with the job and deliver the manifesto. Neither hold water. The Tory landslide victory had very little to do with Johnson personally. The two factors that led to the Conservative victory were the unpopularity of Labour under Jeremy Corbyn and Brexit. As for getting on with the job, Johnson is probably the laziest Prime Minister in history. The so-called achievements of his Government (the vaccination programme and delivering Brexit) happened in spite of rather than because of Johnson. In fact Brexit still hasn't really been delivered - hence the Northern Ireland debacle.
