Just studied it a few hours ago.. And heres the best explanation of jurisdiction I could ever receive.

Small correction -
Whenever there is a disagreement with subjects of water supply from river and river valleys between two states.
Article 262 (1) (2) empowers the parliament to enact laws on water disputes and any court of law shall not have the power to intervene in that matter .
Under that in 1956, the parliament enacted two laws, the second law, the inter state river water dispute act 1956 has the power to adjucate on the matter mentioned above and supreme court cannot intervene in that.
Therefore, the ad - hoc tribunals hears the matters of water disputes, not the supreme court .

Interstate river water disputes is not supreme court's original jurisdiction as per article 262, parliament has the upper hand to dispute resolution and it can prevent sc from hearing to it.

🌊⚖️ Mam, Water disputes between states is handled by Water Tribunals(Water disputes Act 1956 ; Article 262) and not Supreme court directly. SC does have original jurisdiction (131) over state disputes and union vs state disputes.
