jacob rees mogg's stupidity about farming and migration

"stop growing vegetables," he says- that will reduce migration. That is oddly not even a new idea- it started as a direct consequence of the Seasonal Agricultural Workers scheme which was suspended by George Eustace in 2013 because of the increase in EU migrant labour. It was reintroduced in 2018 with limited success after the greater number of crops had been abandoned because of the dearth of local labour.

The only inactivity I see is this inept Government.

Increasing productivity is why they want to scrap workers, rights and human rights

If moggy is so worried about the rising population, why doesn't he piss off then?

I finished with Mr Rees-Mogg a long time ago too. Key trigger points for me has of course been Brexit and his role in it, calling civil servants snowflakes, and reclining on benches in the House of Commons during debates with zero respect for the House, the Country, or the debate he was supposed to be paying attention to.

Progress is being made. I haven't heard neither the interviewer nor the interviewee suggest that it is the EU's fault.

People can't understand the combination of upper class voice and third class brain. They can and do coexist.

People assume when these people go to the top schools and universities, makes the bright intelligent all round adults. JRM is an example that this isn’t always the case. Spoilt and completely out of touch with the Actual real world.

Tim, I've never doubted Mogg is a twit. Here in North East Somerset a lot of the farmers have finished with him.

This is now a familiar feature of British politics; a Conservative, in this case, an ex-government minister, talking about the state of the country and criticising it, as if his Party, in power for fourteen years, had nothing to do with it.

I support local organic farmers and have done for many years. They are in touch with the Earth and the local environment. The food is seasonal, picked fresh from the fields and delivered weekly straight to a local door in a reusable fruit and veg box. No insane packaging or prices. Some of the proceeds also go towards rescued sheep and hens. Seems like a win/win to me

I thought they wanted us to eat British foods. Now they want to import them. Hey guess what, it now takes longer and the fruit isn’t as fresh 😡

This is what happens when politicians become so focussed on a single issue & lose all sight of the big picture. It’s ignorant and short-sighted of Reece-Mogg to make this all about immigration, imports & cost & ignore the entire value of British farming to us. The sector’s worth over £10billion and c.60% of produce is for domestic food consumption. It’s about jobs, over half of UK land, food security, our health and our future. He was Business Secretary & Brexit Opportunities lead for God’s sake! A reasonable Govt would work with the sector on a short, medium & long term agricultural strategy. I hope the farmers and the good people of Somerset vote him out.

Not only an MP but a serving cabinet member of the Johnson and Truss governments that are responsible for these 2022 figures.

The Conservative idea that people can enter the country posing as students and then 'disappear'goes back many years. Just as bad is the view that marrying someone from abroad is simply a dodge to enter the country and the necessity to be earning certain income levels is quite horrible.

An affected accent and manufactured eccentricity allowed Mogg to convince many people that he isn't a simpleton.

In a time of trouble the allotment holder is your best friend. I learned from my grandparents. They would give you nothing now and you would starve!
