Esperanto was supposed to unite the world under a common language, but given its standing today, I don't think you should learn it.

You can only use it to speak to other Esperanto speakers? Soooo the same as every other language then?

Some people learn it as a hobby? Would you tell people they shouldn't play Dungeons and Dragons because dragons don't really exist.

I've been speaking Esperanto for a while now and I love all the friends I've made, the things I've done and the doors that have opened for me because of it. Is it worth the price of admission? You bet.

I'm not even an esperantist, but as someone who's into conlangs, saying that esperanto has no culture is a very bold statement, esperanto might not have achieved its goals or might not have been perfect in terms of internationality, but you can't just deny the impact esperanto had in the conlang community and in many people's lives, even klingon, lojban and toki pona have culture, I may agree on the other arguments, but for this one I think you're misinformed

Guys admits he doesn't understand why people don't do the things he likes and do other things instead

Almost every point from this guy is counter productive lol

If you wanted to point out how it failed you *have* to point out where it succeeded. Before WW2, a (smaller) country declared Esperanto as its official language before it was annihilated in the great war. Hitler had extreme prejudice against Esperanto and he called it the language of Jewish spies (or something along those lines) - meaning it had enough impact that the Nazis burnt nearly every trace of it, except for a small group of enthusiasts who kept it alive (barely). Esperanto was a major success and was very popular before it was nearly wiped out, and it allowed fast and easy communication between countries that had no similarities to one another. Larger countries could talk to some smaller European countries much easier, not perfectly, but enough to communicate intentions with another. In my eyes, Esperanto has been a huge hit, and for a constructed language, behind toki pona, Esperanto is probably one of the *best* and easiest languages to learn.

If your goal was to discourage language enthusiasts from learning a super unique and cool language, don't even bother.

I disagree.
Failing its primary goal - who cares?
Eurocentric - who cares?
You can be fluent in Esperanto in a few months of lazy effort or 3 weeks of strong effort, and then you have an idea of how you learn and how languages work, and learning Spanish or Greek or Hebrew will be that much faster.

So just because the language has little speakers, we shouldn’t learn it? Then should we stop learning a small African language? Of course not, all languages have beautiful and they do their jobs, communication. Esperanto can be learn if people want, stop telling people what they can’t do with their life.

In a short time I reached a sufficient level for conversation and now I enjoy communicating through writing and talking

None of the eurocentric features have stopped japanese from learning the language for many years. it is even a holy language for one of japans various religions that still exists today.
Googling famous constructed languages and claiming it is useless and has no culture was really ignorant of you.
The culture around esperanto is a culture in itself like various other non country related cultures. You wouldn't say there is no gaming culture because it has no country.
The language's grammer is extremly usful for being able to comprehend various other sometimes extremely difficult linguistic concepts in languages like japanese, polish, and semitic languages that are catogory 5 for english speakers.
Vi ne scias pri tio, kion vi parolas.

As a Canadian, I approve of learning Esperanto. It aligns with our shared value of embracing diversity and sharing cultures in my country.

The no culture claims is false, we have over hundred years of history when books, songs and poems were written and multiple anegtotes and other cultural things created. And also you can use it irl with people in local clubs and during Esperanto convensions.
This short is the usual misinformation which you could disprove by just reading something about the Esperanto movement.
Also, Spanish was never a source for Esperanto lol, it didn't say "from all romance languages". A lot of stuff is from Latin and that's where similarities to Spanish come from.

There was a big push for Esperanto in China a few decades ago. Eurocentric or not, it was easy to learn. Also it would be very useful for foreign astronauts to learn (as well as Anglophone astronauts) for space missions. Try living overseas in a town or city away from a capital or financial hub to see how well “English as the international language” works.

no culture? the language may not have as much culture, but still had a bit of history. no homeland? we use the term "esperantujo" to refer to any place where the language is spoken, and we are content with that.

Stupid opinion...don't learn french, spanish or whatever...esperanto is a language, just another language if you like.
