Brookmeade UCC Worship 3.16.25 'Faith & Works' (2nd Sunday in Lent)

Показать описание
Whoever you are and wherever you are on life's journey, you are welcome here! Please join us in worship Sunday, March 16th (Second Sunday in Lent). Sermon Series: “everything [in] between”, Message: “faith & works” from Rev. Liz DeWeese.
“Mary vs. Martha; faith vs works; the question has been posed as a “this or that” supposition. But what if that was never what Luke meant? What if that was never what Jesus meant? How could we hear this passage differently if Mary didn’t choose “the better part” as many translations suggest, but rather if the Greek were rendered that Mary chose “the good portion”? And how much more would it change your understanding of this passage if we understood that the works Martha does are considered ministry? What if it’s not an “either or” story, but a yin yang story? What if this story is about finding the balance in ourselves, in each other, in our communities? What if ministry expects and needs both/and? This week, we will work in the spectrum of balance and connection, drawing together and drawing beyond so that God may use us to spread love, compassion, and blessing.” - Pastor Liz
