I’m an American Jew that leans left. Now I’m center. I’m 26 and went to art school. When October 7th happened, I lost all of my college friends. They proceeded to message me how they didn’t realize how I’m a “disgusting Zionist” and “uncool now”. Oh and my favorite, “your life means less than a Palestinians”. I was always a Zionist, I’m a Jew. Majority of Jews I know identify as a Zionist. Little did my college “friends” know I actually lost Jewish friends that day. They were executed. None of them seemed to bother asking me if I knew anyone. So much for being “open minded” and “empathetic”. They are a failure of society and I’m ashamed I let them into my life at all. I have one friend from college that was Jewish and he’s been ostracized too. Anyway, thank you for talking about this.
