In my next video, I will be explaining as to how 320x200 and 320x240 modes even work, if these CRT's don't actually support it. ;) Next up, "scan doubling!!".

I just didn't have the game data to use it as an example this time. So it's possible even on an 8086.

That was very satisfying to watch. I wouldn't have the patience to wire up connectors like that.

Years ago, I had a (well, still have) Model 30. Standard MCGA onboard. However, at the time, I had no VGA or MCGA monitor, no monitor in fact with an HD-15 connector. What I did have was an ISA EGA card and monitor, with a 9-pin connector. And yes, wouldn't you know it, the Model 30 had no problem with the EGA card. I don't know if I ever checked to see if it disabled the onboard video (I think it would need to), but it may have just displayed a flashing cursor if anything if I had a VGA monitor. Yes, it also supported 640x350, because the monitor was capable. But of course there was no higher resolution as EGA didn't support it!

This video actually made my day. Now I'm going to have to fire up my old DX2/80 and play some Magic Carpet for a few hours.

3 years later .... I used the information to hook up my Model 25 to an external VGA source. Monitor is from a Color 286 model, supported all the normal VGA modes I threw at it.

I remember when you did play The Brainwasher of Daft Punk in that little beast and now you show it loading with some cool images, the loading time just reminded me of my 486 loading a buffer to play some MP3's (It died but a faster Pentium 100 replaced it :3 )
I have the curiosity if you can play a WAV or MP3 of 5 seconds or 10 (because a complete song will be taking forever to load on a 8088) on this thing, it would be intreresting to know, amazing video :D

Are all the ground pins shorted together? Is it necessary for the red green blue to have their returns if they are already from the same source? I have different computer that does have them all together, the Amstrad PC1512. the MCGA monitor only uses two GNDs on its 9 pin DIN and a third on the shield.

Very interesting. Do you think the display in my Model 25-286 (VGA) has any hardware differences from the model 25 color MCGA? I assumed the only differences were the motherboards and risers.

Zzzz, great but have too realise programming is controlling these adversely because all models of many work, you just have too recall that, right, even p.c as desktop isn't confined too just that server other type place? Parallel processing, GPU thru CPU where floating point all the way as www was based in this idol Bill Gate mobo tunnel funnel chained trap point a pipe etc etc place that can obviously and was always set on every single machine that be? O.k in that context why are 640 probe sixty four?
Also tempting wireless transceiver path causes problem of modem ignored outright for translation, code, purposes you ought not shove off modem rig but wireless from with Xsat sattellite routers or Sna Dec devel better than wi Fi as word, yunno Windows, perk, bsd? Regex P!
No, no non, wait, it's not anti B.Gates.. Idol was mobo construct? No not just dos programming ...
