Finally! I wanted to make this DEXA experiment for years now (even before Attia), but was always putting it off for "the better times".
I got some clarity and hopefully will continue to scan on a yearly basis now.

Great video! As always! Thanks for sharing your experiment! To me, the first re-feed day is so difficult, because once i eat something, it is very hard to stop! the full hunger gets alive and angry! :)

Cool! Good luck with your fast, looking forward to seeing any improvements in the dexa scan. When they benchmark optimal levels of lean mass, I wonder whether they're overemphasising the glucose sink effect of muscle.. Because like you suggest, strength is probably the most important metric overall. I'm sure I'd also be below their guidelines at 185cm and 73kg hehe..EDIT. I didn't realise you actually combined the before and after in one video. Awesom!

Interesting, thanks for the experiment.

This does seem in line with other research indicating that any muscle lost is quickly regained after refeeding while fat loss is more permanent.

Ignoring costs and effort required I would have loved to see more scans at different points of the process.

More research is required to replicate these findings consistently and to define the outer limits of the method. Interesting data nonetheless and I appreciate the take away to be so unbiased!

Most people doing intermittent fasting do 16:8 fast. What does the research say about this?

Are you sure this was a DEXA scan ?? 😂
15 pull ups is really good .
I’m no expert but I would have guessed you are around 15% max body fat.
Of course it doesn’t tell much about strength and body fat correlation.
Very interesting as well comparison dexa and household scale .
I lost a lot of strength and muscle during low calorie phases .

The second dexa scan is almost a month after the first one, and not after a 7 days water fast. This ruined the credibility of your experiment and i just wasted 24 minutes.
