Reasons for Alabama's 17-year-old star wide receiver Ryan Williams not being in high school
Ryan Williams, an Alabama wide receiver, has already taken college football by storm, amassing 177 yards and the game-winning touchdown in Saturday's 41-34 victory over Georgia, despite being the youngest FBS player this season.
Williams reclassified to 2024 and graduated from Saraland High School early, making him eligible for college at the age of 17. In December of last year, he confirmed that he would be attending the University of Alabama and made the move official.
About his choice to enroll in college early, Williams remarked, "Definitely dominating at the high school level." "After my sophomore football season, my family and I gave it a lot of thought and concluded it was a decision we wanted to make. We experienced the entire season. As I always want to put the team first, we wanted to make sure it happened after the season so that I wouldn't be the center of attention. It was time once the season was over. This is the day."
Williams won Alabama's Mr. Football award twice, in 2022 and 2023, making history as the first winner of the prize twice. His final season at Saraland ended with 19 touchdowns and 72 catches for 1,324 yards.
