Inspired by true events, City of Dreams follows Jesús, a young Mexican boy whose dreams of becoming a soccer star are shattered when he’s trafficked across the border and sold to a sweatshop making fast fashion in downtown Los Angeles. Thrust into a world of exploitation and despair; he’s forced to adhere to the grueling work schedule dictated by El Jefe, a boss who promises freedom for those who complete their quotas. Despite Jesús’s hellish existence, he finds solace in Elena, a girl who was similarly betrayed and sold into slavery. When she goes missing and another co-worker Carlitos is severely beaten, Jesús realizes that the only way to save himself and the others is to fight back; even if it costs him his life.

I’m so blessed to be part of this along with an amazing group of celebrities and all the rest of folks like me who truly believe and devote themselves to the cause. It pains me that I’m unable to become a donor at this time (retired Air Force veteran on Social Security and some family issues), but I’m determined to get on the proverbial bandwagon as my finances allow. Blessings to everyone especially the children.

There are a couple of good scenes and Andres Delgado is totally believable as the university-aspiring cholo BUT the script is underwritten as evidenced by its holes: 1) it is unclear if the father sold him off; 2) why the boy is mute and suddenly talks in the last five or six minutes of the movie; 3) the Jason Patric character suddenly disappears; 4) WHAT in the hell is the main villain (the generically tiresome "el Jefe") suppose to mean about his "this is America" rambling? 5) Why didn't the kid make a break for it when the two cops confronted the cholo in the driveway of the mansion? 6) All those scenes without dialogue seemed like padding ; 7) WHAT is that masked man supposed to symbolize???. . . and some of the acting was below average.
