How to Support Your Thyroid With Ketosis & Fasting | Dr Rebecca Warren:

Dr Rebecca Warren's approach to thyroid and hormonal health is simple but powerful: get to the cause, then support the body to heal itself.

The thyroid doesn’t work on its own, so when the thyroid is off, it not only affects the entire endocrine system, but all systems within the body. This is why just getting a thyroid dysfunction diagnosis doesn’t mean you’ll ever get well, and in fact can make you worse over time.

Likewise, hormonal imbalances indicate something is systemically wrong in the body. In Chattanooga and virtually around the world, Dr. Rebecca coaches her clients on optimal thyroid care via customized plans utilizing lab work and testing, supplements, and functional nutrition.

In this episode, Dr. Warren gives a massive overview of the thyroid and what you need to know about Reverse T3. Plus, we chat about if you should try keto and fasting with thyroid issues and the danger of staying in ketosis for too long. You'll get a comprehensive answer to what are the best labs for my thyroid along with optimal reference ranges.

A lot of people think they cannot practice intermittent fasting or keto with a thyroid issue. Can you do keto with a thyroid issue, yes if you practice keto flexing! You'll learn more on this interview with thyroid expert, Dr Rebecca Warren.

This interview gave me chills there are so many things in it that I can relate to. Doctors had me thinking I was crazy forever. I really need to go and get a full blood panel like you both suggested. Similar to Dr. Warren at about 19, I wasn't right in my body. I was suffering massive migraines nearly on a daily basis and I maybe had 2 headaches in my whole life. I was also getting terrible nose bleeds. I asked for a CT scan or an MRI. The doctor said No I just had anxiety. I advocated for myself for the very first time and said, Whether I have anxiety or not, you don't pay for my insurance and what if something is there and you missed it. Do you want to live with that? LOL...I said if nothing is there, I will take whatever med and see whatever therapist you want. I had an MRI and she called 3 months later with the results. I had a very small mass on my right frontal lobe. Apparently my symptoms should not have been caused by that but 🤷🏻‍♀️ they said because of my age I should be rescanned in 5 yrs. My mother said because it is odd for her age maybe she should get an MRI in one year. Thank God my mother came to the neurology appt and spoke her mind. A year later the scan revealed my mass had grown slightly more than twice it's size. I required brain surgery. Since then I am very wary of what Doctor's tell me. Unfortunately, I never quite advocate for myself as well as I did at 19. Sorry so long.

I heard that there is a thyroid medication called Armour that works better for some people than levothyroxine which is what I've been on for over a decade. The problem is getting my doctor to prescribe this Armour for me. She keeps giving me the run around every time I ask her about it. I don't know how to get her to let me try it or if it is even worth the time or not. I have extremely low energy and feel sickly all the time. All I ever want to do is lay around and watch TV. When I push myself to do any kind of physical activity my muscles are sore for days. I am at a loss as to what I should do, but I am going to try this Keto and hope for the best.

I have been taking Low Dose Naltrexone for almost two years for Hashimoto's. Along with a Keto lifestyle, supplements, and other changes, my antibodies are now less than one and 33 (still too high) from the high 700 and 800s four years ago.

Except for TSH there is basically no information on lab values in Dr. Warren's "Optimal Thyroid Labs" eBook.

In my opinion, when an "expert" mentions reference ranges, they should also give the units of measure. For example, with Free T4, labs might report your value as ng/dL or pmol/L or pg/mL. Someone listening to this interview might have obtained a Free T4 result of 13.0 pmol/L and they would be thinking, "Holy sh-t, that's way higher than Dr. Warren's recommendation of 1.0." But she's actually giving a value of 1.0 ng/dL. You gotta be specifying the units of measure in these interviews.
