Still glad that I have made the jump from Cakewalk to Reaper. The learning curve is pretty steep but in time i will be able to customize it for me.

Learn Reaper. $60. One of the best DAWs I've ever used. I left Studio One for Reaper.

I think removing the artist version is a big mistake. I have used it for a long time because I have never needed anything else. It has always been an incentive to buy hardware and get the latest version. Now I will use my version 6 until I can't anymore and then we'll see, the competition is tough in this sector.

We, the people, need to boycott every single product by all companies that go to a subscription model.

Thanks for the last two uploads, they're incredibly relevant at this point in time. Things definitely seem to be changing and it's good to have a familiar voice you can trust talking about it.

Avoid subscription models at all costs. They are the pest. Companies love them (I get it.), but it`s like you have to pay to be ripped off. No, thanks.

After nothing but crashed computers, daw after daw problem . I went back to a 16 track recorder and 2 Yamaha 8 track cassette recorders and a reel to reel. Tape is the best

You get the current version of daw and 1 year update to it, the license refers to the time you receive updates and bug fixes not to daw, the daw is yours because you paid for it. After 1 year, you can always update, when you think it's worth the money, 1 year, 2 years whenever you want. It is the cleanest and most logical way of licensing both for the producer and for the users, you can update it when it is on sale with a discount why not.

As long as Studio One doesn't get rid of perpetual licenses I'm cool with the changes. 200 usd rather than 400 for the full product is great, it's an amazing workstation. My only concern is now it costs 150$ more bucks for the 4-5 major updates the year after your purchased updates run out. Not sure what they're thinking there outside of maybe recouping their losses with the price reduction, but if nobody pays for the extra major updates they'll have to reduce the price or fix this weird update model they're doing. Nice vid looking forward to your review of studio one 7

I bought a crossgrade to Studio One Pro 6 on September 9 (because I owned a Reason 12 license), so because I bought it after August 1 2024 I get a free upgrade to 7 on October 9.

As I understand it, you get to keep the version you had on the 364th day of a yearly subscription.

Saw this when looking into the new quantum interfaces.

This makes you (us) appreciate UAD LUNA a lot more

I remember when Ableton didn't have side chain and you had to dip the volume manually on your bass, but I got round it.

I think Presonus would do well to engage the bottom shelf market by developing a $20-$40 version of Studio One that came with a perpetual license. Maybe call it Studio One "Alpha" or something like that. Even if it had just their stock plug-ins only (plus maybe a handful of virtual instruments), and unlimited tracks, they'd be off to the races.

And this is why I jumped ship and moved over to Reaper. I have no regrets saying adios to Studio One

The Digital Audio Workstation industry is changing.

DAW's like Cubase will never go to the subscription route.

It'll always will be a purchasable DAW by price point.

So I literally just bought a studio 26 audio interface. Options for incuded software are 6 months of studio one plus monthly or studio one artist perpetual licence.
Apparently the monthly subscription does not leave you with a perpetual version after it lapses so will it revert to artist or just nothing. I am pretty confused right now.
Probably only need artist but if its ending then what ?? If i click artist now will it work after 7 comes out?

Hello, what do you think about Mixbus 10? It's currently on sale for only $30

The Quantum HD interfaces doesn't only give you 12 months of Studio One+, you will also get a perpetual license. The deal with Quantum ES is really bad. 6 months of free use and after that you have nothing. Pay up for 12 more months and get a perpetual license and the price for the ES is almost as high as the HD. Doesn't make sense.
