My son and i are SO excited for Mythic Battles. On the 2018 campaign i only backed the base, so decided to add some of the Pantheon expansions to the Ragnarok pledge.
I cant wait for some of the fun battles...nunber one for me being Thor vs Jormungandr!

Firefighters on Duty is a real-time game. Turns have a 2 minute time limit where you are trying to accomplish as many tasks as you can. Also, the reason that the low crowdfunding level is fine is because it is already getting a retail release regardless of the crowdfunding. As you said, they may just be doing a kickstarter version because its something they are passionate about and just wanted to offer to people. It probably helps offset some of the up font production costs that they will incur with the retail games too. One thing I did appreciate about their campaign is they clearly state that their shipping charges do NOT include freight costs, and that they are paying those themselves.

With Perseverance, the expansion pledge shares some components with Episodes 1 and 2 so I suspect a fair number of standalone backers will be those that don't want to share components between the 2 boxes and prefer to pay the extra for the standalone version instead, fwiw.

I think with Perseverance their is also a difference of theme between 1&2 and 3&4. In Episode 1 you land on the island, and your basically protecting you base while building it up from the encroaching dinosaurs. In Episode 2 its adventure and exploration as you base is Protected finally. In Episode 3 your taming and Riding the Dinosaurs. In Episode 4 your fighting an enemy that also rides Dino's. 1&2 for me are really good games but the theme for 3&4 just seems cooler then 1&2 and I can see how people would just skip 1&2 for the Riding Dino's and combat of 3&4. .

I can never back SFG games because their shipping to my country contrast drastically with other's. Similarly, with CMON. It leaves me wondering how other publishers manage to get better reasonable shipping prices.

Been a slow year for backing for me. I am currently debating if I want the new Nemesis game. Might depend on just how much crossover there is between the 3 games.
Need a bigger home. Not sure how I am even going to store what I have coming.

After the original Project Elite debacle, I will never back anything from Artipia again. They showed their true colors as a company to me during that one. I will almost certainly be backing HZD: Forbidden West and probably Nemesis: Retaliation in addition to Dceased, which I am already backing. Looks like it will be an expensive month.

Regarding Firefighters on duty:
As you say the company already has a different IP with quite a few iterations under their belt that they know have had a lot of traction. As this game is following the same core mechanics and they also know that firefighting is a very popular theme and that there aren't that many games already out there within this genre, they must be banking on the game doing really well in retail over the coming years. Therefore they don't need the KS to fund the entire production cost, as they presumably have capital already. This is a good way to do KS when you're already an established player on the market I think and I give them credit for it.

Personally I don't think the game is for me, which is sad as I love the firefighting theme. All the chaotic dice chucking in this game just makes me think of children violently playing with board game components, shuffling things around, without following any rules at all. It's good fun for the kids in the moment, but the lack of structure and strategy makes me more inclined to go and beat my head against a wall repeatedly.🤔
