Try these two questions: what is the square root of 16 vs the square root of x^16? We will see the difference between simplifying radicals when an inside is just a number vs when we have an algebraic expression with an exponent inside. We will also see what rational exponent means.

My work

sqrt(16)= 4
sqrt(x^16) = x^16/2 (Whenever we take the square root of something, we are just dividing its exponent by 2)
x^16/2= x^8

Second one is the simplest for me because
sqrtx¹⁶ = x^16(½)
= x^8

For the square root of 16 that's easy! That's just equal to 4!
16 divided by 2 equals 8
