As someone who used to own chickens and lives around people who own chickens; roosters actively Crow at night, even where there is no light to wake them up. The ones around here usually do it at around 3 AM, and then again when the sun comes up. Idk if every rooster does it, but at least the ones where I live don't have a perfect reputation, lol
