WIll a steering stabilizer FIX Death Wobble Jeep Wrangler? Lets understand what a steering stabilizer does and how it can effect death wobble in a Jeep Wrangler. Whether you have a Jeep Wrangler JL Rubicon or a Jeep Wrangler TJ all the same principles apply about a steering stabilizer and how it effects jeep wobbles, vibrations, shake and alignment.

Steering Stabilizers are a common bandaid put onto improperly designed suspension and steering systems to mask the real cause of death wobble. Lets find the cause of death wobble and fix it!

THANK YOU for making this video. I get in this argument so often with people who just don’t understand this.

I hear what you are saying "Steering Stabilizers don't fix death wobble" then how come the dealer has recommended the below information? I just received a 'Notice of proposed class settlement' card which references 2018-2020 Jeep Wrangler or 2020 Jeep Gladiator (which I have) which references the Failed front suspension steering damper. So I was looking up on youtube and saw your video. If the settlement goes through, they were willing to add a warranty extension of 8 years or 90, 000 miles whichever is earlier from date the vehicle first sold to the original owner or lessee to cover all parts and labor needed to replace. Since I don't like dealers messing with my jeep (bad history), I've been trying to learn and fix things on my own, which has turned out pretty good so far. I appreciate the video because when I'm on the highway, I do feel the wobble. The notification card does in fact state "...defect that causes the steering wheel and front suspension of the vehicle to shake after contact with a bumpy road surface at highway speed". So should I replace it or not?

I hit my stabalizer on a wj onnthe trail got crazy wobble on the home. The took the damber off and my wobble was gone, and drive or without for weeks before I got a new damper on, and never had any wobble again.

So the dealer changed for me a Mopar steering Damper and it has been running well for the last 2 months...So what I understood from you video is temporary ( I’m scare now) so what is next... what is the real solution to a death wobble?

I had a bone stock extended length wrangler come in with fairly new ball joints and totally tight arms and ties. It got the wobble after I rotated the tires. The tires spin balanced and looked FINE too, not shifting belts/wobbles and in 75% life. So it went away with replacing what appeared to be the original damper.
It was alot less painful selling them the damper bandaid, than assuring them that theyre brand new Generals put on last year already need to be replaced lol.
Its tough being the only guy in the shop when you wanna fully check out a suspension system sometimes!

I would like a second I changed my stabilizer 5 years ago and haven't had death wobble even one time. I had it daily before. You can go spend all you want to "fix" your steering linkages etc.... But for $30 it drives straight smooth and no death wobble for 50k miles

So, we've been working on my friends 2019 Rubicon with less than 20K miles which suffers death wobble even at 35 mph now. We've checked every single joint and they're tight like brand new. Nothing is loose. The damper recall was done on the car when it only had 5k miles, but as time has gone on the problems has been getting more persistent/frequent. Any ideas? There is literally nothing loose else loose in the system. Makes no sense? Only option is to replace the damper again and see. Regardless of weather the damper fixes the wobble, it will change the frequency at which it happens and if a new damper keeps the vehicle out of that frequency then it essentially fixes the issue. A worn damper will not dampen the frequency and will allow the system to diverge and hit death wobble. IMO, the damper is not just a band aid and does indeed serve a purpose to mitigate death wobble.

I think it can in some cases stop that initial oscillation. But like you said fix the problem first. My MJ i fixed with junkyard used stock parts. And sawtoothed used mud tires. I was proud of myself. But i did graduate to a better track bar and a stabilizer.

Well, your right and kind of wrong. My Jeep gladiator had a loose track bar bolt at the frame side bolt. So I wailed it down with two breaker bars. That didn't fix the death wobble and it was loose for sure nothing wallowed out. Every component on the Jeeps front end is tight. Me myself I checked it been a Master Mechanic since 1987. Then I had 2 reputable off road shops look into it. They found nothing wrong. I replaced the steering stabilizer. Sure the stabilizer it self wont fix death wobble it masks it. But in my case the track bar bolt being loose frame side wore out my steering stabilizer. With the track bar bolt extremely tight and new steering stabilizer its fixed

So you’re saying is that if you’re steering is perfectly good, you can upgrade just to slightly increase steering feel?

So what you are saying is the dampener is only for steering comfort and has nothing to do with suspension?

I’m not trying to stay off topic but can the stabilizer cause the vehicle to pull to one side? I installed the Fox 2.0 stabilizer and the vehicle was pulling to the right. After putting back the factory stabilizer, the vehicle did not have the same issue.

Hi, can you please help me! I just bought a Jeep Wrangler, it has a little bit of a lift and larger wheels. It also has a dual steering stabilizer set up. I took it in to a well known Jeep modification shop to look it over. They said I should take off the dual stabilizer and just go with a single stabilizer bar (no more shocks). I bought this for go in the snow on my steep driveway, and top down summers. Never will I off road. I want it to be safe, track as straight as possible, and handle paved curvy mountain roads. Do you agree I should take them I'm reading sooo many mixed feelings on this subject.

I have a question. I have a daily driver 1995 jeep Cherokee I have a 4 inch lift on the front with a 3 inch on the rear. I have an adjustable track bar, drop.putman arm, lower control arm from rouugh country. I have a heavy duty the rod and change all the rod end. Would the upper and lower ball joints or U joint cause death wobble ? I have noticed my steering is hopping like I have a vent rim but I don't. Please help I don't go off road I just drive around so you can imaging death wobble at 45mph.
