Star Wars (Read-Along Book and Record)

A job well done, Disney! It's impressive how they managed to squeeze the storyline of the ENTIRE first Star Wars movie (later "Episode IV: A New Hope") into one little 7" record! They could have used a better voice actor for Darth Vader though.... Boo for no James Earl Jones! Maybe it's not a bad thing Vader's imposing, sinister voice today is being kept alive with the help of AI.

Recorded on a period-perfect Fisher-Price 825 record player, a VERY well-kept example, with a Logitech mic to get a direct sound from the mono speaker. I was very sad that I had to let this piece go when downsizing...

OldMusicOnVinyl1 is brought to you by my ventures. You can explore them in my channel's About section.

Vinyl isn’t light on the pocket. If you enjoy these needledrops and need funds for wax and/or vinyl hardware, I can HELP you make your pocket-book ready at ANY time for purchases.

I’ve locked in some deals to build your vinyl savings account and get you the best value. Trying to decide which of 3 LP’s to buy from your Discogs wantlist? Worry no more – build a vinyl war chest, and you’ll have savings to buy all 3 at once with confidence.

When you buy through these links, I get a small kick-back, so you get higher-quality videos & reviews.

CURRENT GOAL: I’ve been away from my equipment & collection for 3 years. I’m anxious to put together some wax & a hi-fi to keep giving you the good stuff.

Together, we can continue to make our vinyl the best they can sound for the money. Want better sound? Less sibilance? Clearer tone? Check these out:

Here's a way I dabble in passive income without nail-biting uncertainty: I've found my sanctuary in a crypto platform with its own stable blockchain, free from the turbulent world of BTC. Think of it like royalties: Every time someone transacts, you get paid.

**PRECIOUS METALS**
Vinyl is all about physics. If you got tarnished wire, your music can’t travel from stylus to speakers without signal loss! I am fascinated with the properties of different metals, precious metals in particular. Gold & silver are beautiful, they store value, and they have wide industrial uses.

I put some holdings in gold and silver to protect my money. Why? Historical stability. They’re best for savings. This monthly savings plan makes it easy to add time-tested money to your Vinyl War Chest.

@SlimeAmTheBest Yeah. I mentioned in the description that for this readalong they could have used a better actor for Darth Vader. Nevertheless, they managed to squeeze the entire storyline into one 7" record, which is very remarkable! The vinyl/book format surely beats the living daylights out of all that electronic LeapFrog stuff they have out nowadays. Personally, I really like the Wookiee sounds.

Hey thanks for posting this. I dug my copy out the other day. My record player isn't set up at present. I haven't heard this in about 30 odd years. I was mistaken, for some reason I always thought Mark Hamill narrated this for some reason, Obviously not.

I never knew that storybook records were ever factory-sealed like full-length LPs before, so sealed copies must be as rare as hen's teeth. ;) Hold on to them for as long as possible.

This is awesome - though I don't totally get it; Disney would surely have fully licensed everything but then they used voice actors instead of original audio clips... Guess that was more taboo then than now, or were they afraid of disenfranchising the movie? Doesn't make a ton of sense either way ... maybe Lucas didn't own the rights to the movie but did the script or something. But then there are movie shots in it....

You do know that this book came out about 30 years before Disney bought Lucasfilm, right?
