all of the Decathlon/Quechua stuff is great. we have the stores in Medellin, and i'm always telling my hiker friends back in the states that you could get all of your gear, and a trip to Colombia, literally for less than the price of buying it all back home.

Decathlon garments are making up more and more of my outdoor gear wardrobe. Prices for the major brands are just eye-watering now. I started with running gear and based on my success there, have been adding more things for climbing, backpacking and ski touring. A word of advice for people not near a store: size carefully. The sizing is "European" in that most people probably size up. I'm a small in ArcTeryx and OR and a solid medium in Decathlon garments.

Checkout the Altra Olympus! I've recommended it to many fans of the Speedgoat who have a wider toe box. Make sure your toes feel like they're in deep space while maintaining heel security. -Kyle

I'm amazed at how many miles you got on those Speedgoats. My Speedgoat 4's wore out in 200 miles, and my Speedgoat 5's only lasted 150 before the sole was worn out, the front bumper became unglued, the tongue gussets tore, and the fabric around the heel tore. Ended up going to Topo Terraventure 3's, and they're still going strong after 400 miles.

That's a comprable list. Well thought out. I tried the REI pack and went back to my ZPacks ArcHaul 62L. Beyond that, the only major item I suggest as an alternative is the Zoleo GPS/SMS device. I've used the Garmin InReach for years before finding the Zoleo. It just works better for me, dosn't glitch out my phone, and their app is so easy to use. Finally, the Helinox Chair Zero is must for this back. Highly reccomend. Worth the 17oz.

I find that spoons ranging from fuchsia to maroon have similar properties. Definitely avoid green.
