RYTM MKII and A4MKII are the backbone to my setup and I'm forcing myself to dive into every corner of both machines (over time) to really get the most out of them. They're really deep and it's easy to get drawn to other shiny new devices, but these can do so much and sound so good that it's hard to imagine needing more (though I have more and always will haha). Planning on doing an EP towards the end of the year with JUST the RYTM. Should be a fun challenge. =)

I had many drum machines over last 25 years. Currently, I have Tempest, Tanzbar, Jomox, Machine drum, Volca Drum and AR mk2. if I had to choose one it would be AR. It just does the most of what I need the best. It is nice going for perkons, or designing sounds on Tempest, or using creamy power of Tanzbar, but AR beats them all, and in pair with Octatrack and MachineDrum it is my main percussion source.

Yes best drum machine off all time! The recent upgrade that Digitakt received (and a second LFO) would just be icing on the cake.

Model: Cycles turned out to be my experimental fun box and I didn't pull all my hair out to learn. We need elekTron therapist to calm us down or massage B4 and after spending 2 hours daily.

I already commented on my love for my mk1 RYTM on Instagram but early on the video you mention someone else on youtube inspired you to dig more into your RYTM but I can't catch the name of the artist/youtuber you mention, would you mind sharing a name or link? Thanks for the video, I love both my RYTM and Octatrack but I think the relationship with Elektron boxes is rocky at times for most people and it's great to just be reminded "hey, you know, this box is cool, you should use it more". It's also great to hear about the different ways they're being used, they're deep boxes and sometimes it's easy to miss things or just not think of a certain ways to use them yourself.

I would love to hear more about your MIDI setup and dealing with latency in the Patreon group.

Don’t like the analog part of this machine, and prefer the sample engine of Digitakt… But AR have a great workflow like all Elektron boxes for sure…
I found the analog machines feels so limited to my ears, in terms of intensity and versatility compared to an Alpha Base. Definitely not the same game imo

Good work for your video :) and yes I’m agree with you, TR8 is really a good drum machine for live purposes 😊

It's probably one of the best drum machines ever made to date, unfortunately for me it's very complex to use and takes so long to learn and to learn it to the point of proficiency, i've stopped using it and started using the Vermona drum just for ease of use, but for me it is class...So much swing and delicacy of the drum sounds...this is a must for any studio in my opinion...Also syncs beautifully with pretty much everything...and for the price it's a versatile workhorse...And again also if you want just the drum sounds on a budget you could go for the Elektron Samples...

I bought an MK1 a year ago and the TR-8S at the same time, The TR-8S was instant fun and easy to use. I was disappointed with the Rytm tbh and put it away until last week when I decided to give it another try. I watched tons of tutorials and I finally learned the basics, my opinion about it has changed completely, I wouldn't say it's the best sounding drum machine for my style of music but it complements the TR8S beautifully, it''s all about the sequencer and P-Locks for me. I'm still trying to wrap my head around importing samples and saving kits etc, but the Rytm is a keeper.
great video as always !!

I like the Rytm a lot - use it all the time. I regret selling my A4 as they were excellent together - the transpose was great for live.

I love my Rytm too, also have the Syntakt, but find I use the Rytm way more.
Have you ever considered the Toraiz SP-16? If you get past the ‘Pioneer DJ’ vibe to it, it’s really powerful… p-locks, 2 fx per track… and the Prophet 6 filter. 🎉

Also a word on Elektoron Sequencers. The grid does remind of x0x but also, the whole probability, conditions, triggless trig etc stuff, as well as separate track length has its roots in tracker software.

I would use the RYTM even if it didn’t sound good. Beautiful sequencer and build quality. Do you just use the stereo outs into your desk? Edit: jk you answered that, I just got excited 😂

Love mine and tried lots of drum machines. Lots of options and very easy to use for Elektron workflow. I love the original MachineDrum but prices are too high on that dated bit of hardware. Perkons is more expensive and Erica Synths gimped it with 4 voices and no screen. Jomox too cryptic OS to use. I would love to see a re-issue of the original LinnDrum and Oberheim DMX drum synths.

Look, Electron. F off. You dole out cash for these reviews and hit's I'm sure. There's no action in the Electron family. There's no bass or mid. Even The Analogue Heat. If you want a really exciting drum machine it has to be the Korg Drumlogue.

100% about Overbridge midi clocking! Even if I don’t use Overbridge for Audio streaming, using it for MIDI syncing is amazing!

Thanks for sharing your experience with syncing midi in an complex setup. In my experience more gear creates more problems and produces that run a more lean setup seems to release more music.
