Amazon's Best Seller - Amp Dyno of the Fosi Audio TP-02 Subwoofer Home Audio Amplifier

Today we tested a mini home subwoofer amplifier from Fosi Audio. This amp was to replace a 300 watt BASH plate amplifier that died for my CNC’ed subwoofer utilizing an Image Dynamics IDQ12 in a ported enclosure.

This amp is a top seller on Amazon and at the time of this video was priced less than $70. The amplifier states it will do 220 Watts MAX output which is usually a bad sign. The instruction manual states that it won't really do that power output in a snippet. It's a bit confusing what the power ratings are. What is the true power output?

The Fosi Audio TP-02 incorporates the Texas Instruments TDA7498E chip and NE5532 operational amplifier for excellent sound quality. The amplifier includes a 24V 4.5A adapter, based on the math alone 220 watts isn’t possible.

We tested the amp using the included AC/DC adapter at 2 ohms and 4 ohms, then measured frequency response, we also did some audio playback tests so you can see the amplifier in action.

You can now use you car audio subwoofer in your home!

i just grabbed one of these to upgrade my home theatre sub. had a old mtx 12" in a 1.27cf sealed box, added this and holy carp does it thump!

Got one of these amps today and it is working remarkably well with a Buttkicker Gamer 2 transducer. It runs a lot cooler than the stock Buttkicker amp. My only gripe is that the two female banana connectors for the passive subwoofer output are too closely spaced and do not fit a standard 2-pin male 4mm banana plug unless you bend both pins to force it in!

I want Fosi to make a 1, 000w digital chip subwoofer amp with four TPA3255 chips. Their BT 20A Pro Bluetooth amp sounds good. Marry it up with a matching Fosi 1, 000w subwoofer amplifier and they would sell millions. One stout 2.1 system!

NOT a pipe dream. Amps have capacitors and music is dynamic, so it can unload more than volt*ampere for when it counts. Plus you can upgrade the power supply to get more power.

would you figure it can deliver ~25 watts into a nominal 8 ohm load? Also - is it safe to run it from a 24 volt battery ? (as that could be 29 or so volts fully charged) What are its capacitors' voltage ratings ? (I'm doing a 2.1 boombox with TP-02 as the "point one" with 15 inch 8 ohm woofer in a 3rd order box)

does the crossover from sub frequency knob apply on sub out as well as on speaker terminals out? I would like to use it as active crossover.
my passive sub is connected on amplifier that doesn't have crossover so I would used this fosi sub out so I can control frequency with it. but I need to be sure that the sub frequency control from Fosi applies on sub output on Fosi.

Is this thing quiet when idle or is there any noticeable hum at low volumes? I have a cheap powered sub that has a nasty 60 cycle hum that I can't eliminate and I'm thinking of just converting it to a passive speaker or replacing w a car sub.

Stop this nonsense. Power supply ratings are for the output so a 24V, 4.5A power supply should be able to as minimum deliver this, i, e, 108W. Efficiency losses in a power supply means it will draw more than 108W from the wall. That could be 20% But I'd suspect it is lower. I don't believe a power brick would be able to survive dissipating 21W.
