What's missing is audio-realistic. Anyone who's walked in the woods knows that your feet make a lot of noise - footfalls on the ground, the crunch of dead leaves, snapping of breaking twigs, etc. For me, that would've pretty much sealed the deal. This sample has zero such sound. Apparently such effects weren't possible?

Everything look really believable besides the leaves. You can still see its just planes with leaf texture. I think this would be something incredibly performance heavy to get right.

Needs a teensy bit of specularity on the foliage and a tiny bit of subsurface scattering in leaves and more messy underbrush and it would be indistinguishable from real untouched woods

RDR 2 and Kingdom Come Deliverance forests are the most immersives forests I have ever seen in video games

Very good. My only critique is the wind/breeze isn't quite right. A forest almost always has a wind or breeze that moves the leaves, etc.
