I love this. Your body language between the 2 of you speaks volumes. Being happily married 45 years myself, communication is so important. Cory, I love your patience in listening to Rachel. The respect that you both have for each other is beautiful. Having raised 5 daughters, patience and a tender heart is so important. Thank you for sharing. I think what you both shared is part of the blueprint of a successful marriage and will help many. AND yes, I would have listened to a hour and a half of you both sharing. I love watching the love you have for each other. May God continue to bless you.

Indeed tampo is part of the culture. Needless to say this attitude is common amongst Filipino women in a relationship much less from a Filipino male. It’s a way of showing she was offended if you like a coping mechanism, a way too of self-control, being silent rather than being destructive by answering back with expletives, name calling or throwing on the offender’s face unpalatable behaviour or character if there’s any to get even. One could say it’s far better than being verbally aggressive, mouthy or a winging.
For the man/husband it is wise to take a higher ground be gentle, say sorry if appropriate, if cause in not known say so, and give her a hug. Continue to communicate, be patient, it will past, saying your love for her would melt her heart. In a husband and wife relationship love and respect should come in equal measure for it’s happiness and longevity. Best wishes to prospective Western men looking for Filipina wives.

This is probably the best video on this subject Ive seen. (ive seen a lot). Its the first time someone actually presented it in a more positive light and not something that all foreigners say 'they need to eradicate it.' its a part of who they are and as foreigners we need to adjust and just provide the right response for them. Its not a big deal. I get the days on end tampo is inexcusable, but other videos ive seen act like thats what most of them do. If foreigners dont like tampo then dont go for a filippina. I do like how the two of you have worked it out and both learned together. Nice vid.

This gives me greater understanding and breaks my heart. I assumed it was only manipulative and childish- but I see it differently. I have been married to a waray Waray for 11 years- even so - this has given me a better understanding and appreciation of a deeper perspective

Cory, you had me in stiches - I couldn't stop laughing at your facial expressions as Rachel was talking away, bless her, I also have a Filipina so I know the drill too - This video was priceless, keep up the good work you two 😊

This is great! Helping me understand a woman that trying to stay feminine. In the past I would get upset by a closed off woman. You are not bowing down or simpin if you comfort a woman during Tampo. She's going to reward you if you try to be understanding. Great knowledge. Thanks fam !

Really appreciate you sharing your personal story and Raquel, your share is quite meaningful with how you and your father were while you are growing up. It is true that part of being a man is about being able to control your emotions and not ever really allow outbursts of anger that is really really common in the west. Real truth tho, shouting is a lot more common in the Philippines than is conveyed by a lot of vlogers. While outbursts in public are frowned upon, behind closed doors, (which doesn't matter too much in a bamboo house) yelling and shouting fights are actually quite common.

In my opinion, what you two are experiencing I would not classify as Tampo. Reality is a woman just wants to be heard and understood and when a woman goes quiet it usually means something is up. An observent partner will ask what's up and try to get to the bottom of it without fixing it, but just by listening and understanding. This usually makes things better in the long run.

The Tampo that is rampant in the PH is the toxic Tampo, where it is not just being quiet because something is up, it is when a filipina uses silence as a punishment. In the west it is true that a lot of times an arguement can lead to a lot more verbal as a way to express feelings. This does not help in resolving issues or finding solutions but then neither does trying to shut out someone and walk away like a stubborn child. In the west it is called Stonewalling, in the Philippines it is called Tampo but pretty much the same thing. It is the trait of a woman who does not know how to work out problems and instead of trying to find solutions or common ground, it is like a child having a tantrum and slamming the door to their room. It is a sign of emotional immaturity and boundries need to be placed as soon as it is noticed or understand what you are getitng into if you are going to allow it to continue.

It is awesome to see that you guys have an unnaturaly healthy relationship. Seems Cory, you have the right way to address when your partner is having an issue by remaining calm and stoic and trying to get to the root of the problem rather than running around trying to fix everything you see wrong. Take the time to listen and understand your partner and to really make them feel heard.

We've been married for 14 years now. My wife is a Filipina and we are in the USA. Tampo had nearly ended our marriage but has certainly weakened it. Thanks for sharing! I am understanding that my wife's Tampo has less to do with me and more to do with her culture and how she's been treated in the past. Thank you for sharing this. 😀

I really enjoy the dynamics of your relationship. Corey, I think you do an excellent job of listening to Raquel and not interrupting her when she is telling a story and Raquel, your facial expressions are so funny and you can tell that you are present in all the interactions that you two have. I really enjoy your videos for those reasons. Continued success. I hope to make it to the Philippines in the next year or so. I'm looking to move to BGC and really loved your video about it.

Great talk! I’ve seen others try to explain tampo and this has been one of the best ones and I would have watched the 45 minute parts 1 & 2.

This was informative and helped quite a bit because Tampo confuses me when I encounter it. Thanks for candidly discussing this, and to Raquel for sharing her personal feelings about it. This helps me understand my girlfriends point of view much better though she isn't one to do this often.

Wow! This is far and away the best video I've seen on Tampo. I'm in Dumaguete. I've heard some guys say "my wife's having tampo so I'm just ignoring her cause I don't do tampo" Seems like things would just get worse. I love how you two respect and honor each other. I could always see the bubbly fun side of your wife Rachel, but this video really shows the sweetness and her depth.

My x-wife would get sad and weepy every month pre-period, so I bought an app for my palm pilot that tracked her monthly cycle. I knew the day it would hit and on the way home from work I would pick up some wild flowers or chocolates for her and gave her extra cuddles. Always helped a ton. She could never understand how I always knew. 😎

I am an American expat who has lived in the Dominican Republic for 10 years and I'd like you to know I have enjoyed your videos. Although I live in a different country many of the things you talk about are similar. The dynamic between you and your wife is absolutely beautiful it is as if you really are a team and it is great to watch. Thanks again for your videos and keep up the good work.
