I adored The Housekeeper and the Professor.

That seems beautiful to me, State Of Emergency.
I am excited for this readathon. This is the first one that I am going to participate. I hope you discover Asian authors. Proud Asian here. 😁

I loved Cindy's joke video about the Scarlett Johannsen Asian readathon. 😂But this is a wonderful one too, and I'm glad you've personalized the challenges, Shawn. Never heard of that Indian author, but I'm hopeless and only know the likes of Salman Rushdie, Arundhati Roy and Aravind Adiga.

Who better to do the Asian Readathon than you. Digging the t-shirt.

I'll see if I can get through some of the Asian books on my shelf. Although I had picked 4 for Aussie April & only got to one. Oh well. I read The Housekeeper and the Professor in February & really enjoyed it.

A bit of trivia: Before Jun'ichiro Tanizaki wrote The Makioka Sisters, he translated The Tale of Genji into modern Japanese.
I hope you'll like The Housekeeper and the Professor. I absolutely loved the story.

I'm cheering you and Britta on for The Tale of Genji. Bravo! And I love that cover on Three Sisters. I'm still excited for #asianreadathon.

You had me at Asian books. Some of my favorite reads have been books by Asian authors and I have a few Asian books on my TBR as well. I'm in! I will peruse my shelves and watch the announcement videos so I can put together a TBR list. I'm intrigued by The Garden of Evening Mists so I'll see if I can request a copy from the library as well.

I want to follow your lead and read Asian authors who are already on my TBR. I keep thinking of ones to add. Looking forward to May!

I like Bi, Feiyu's books very much. His short novels are amazing.

I still have The Tale of Genji on my shelf. Very impressive that you and Britta are tackling it! Looks like you have a great list set up for the Asian Readathon. :)

How did I not know about this readathon!? Arg, it sounds right up my street (Duong Thu Huong is my favourite translated author ever and both my novels are set in SE Asia). I've already committed to reading a tonne of other stuff in May but I look forward to following what you read as they all sound really interesting... and here's hoping they do it again next year so I can join in too!

How did you enjoy 'The Housekeeper and the Professor'? I read it about five years ago and would love to hear your thoughts! Hope you enjoyed it!

“I’ve been dying to read this novel since I first heard about it four years ago” sorry... I just found that hilarious.

I'm so impressed that you're getting through Tale of the Genji! A well-deserved notch on the belt, indeed!

I'm also doing kind of my own thing for May, look forward to a video on that soon 😉

Oh no, I'm sorry that What Did You Eat Today sounds like a textbook! I looked over a bit of the Japanese when I bought it and didn't get that feeling at all 😅
