Let's Compare New and Old Arteza Everblend Markers (Are they 'ULTRA'?)

preview_player
Показать описание
Arteza recently re-released their Everblend art markers with a new color numbering system to similar to Copic. In today's video, I will compare the original Arteza Everblend markers to the new Everblend Ultra markers. I will be comparing the chisel/fine tip versions but Arteza has also recently released a brush and chisel version.

Improvements:
*Colors numbering system is more logical
* Color name and number on the barrel as well as caps
*New storage box
*There may be a marginal improvement in blending. I think the brush tips would show a greater improvement.

Bottom line: If you already have the old Everblend sets I wouldn't replace them with these, but maybe the brush version. I have not tried them so I can't vouch for the brush nib quality. If you have the old style I recommend cross-references the names and numbers and you can benefit from the new more logical color system although the new and old numbers are not an exact match by name.

Thank you for the review Lindsay. I can't get any Arteza products where I live but I still enjoyed your review. I really appreciate that you are always honest.

I have never been a fan of Arteza products. I don't think I will start. I will stay with the markers I am already collecting. I always appreciate your honest reviews and information.

Thanks for showing us the new markers Lindsay, they look interesting, think I would like the brush markers as I just like how easy these are to blend. Thank you though for all the time you have put in for a comprehensive overview.

Lindsey this is the first time that I am hearing Arteza even had markers. Yes I do have my brain burred in the sand, I have a disorder called agoraphobia. So I do watch because I don’t get out much but I do try to stay in the loop it is called. I adore your true to the product information. Thanks and keep up the tutorials. You are such a beautiful artist. Jo LZ

I’ve never purchased ANYTHING from Arteza. I’ve always felt them to be overpriced and then they had all these YouTubers (even some I’ve never heard of with very small channels) just regurgitating a plethora of products. It made me honestly question their overall quality because they jumped into every medium there was and wanted to claim everything was “professional”. I also noticed that after the “wam bam thank you mam” of the initial marker release, you never saw anyone using them. That spoke VOLUMES to me! I’m sure I wasn’t the only one wondering if all these people said “these markers are so wonderful”, then why had they all returned to the beloved Ohuhu and Bianyo?! The only markers I have in a bullet or small nib are my Bianyos and I enjoy using them on small images - like from Lawn Fawn, Mama Elephant, Simon, etc. AND I especially appreciate that they don’t squeak when you use them 😁
Thanks for your honest review and did you say they wanted for these at one point?! I’m certainly NOT going to pay for their lack of production, import fees, lack of sales, etc because of Covid! NO WAY!

Great review, Lindsay! They look nice, but, I've decided to go with spectrum noir tri blend markers. I have just one set, but the stamp company I've come to love, The Stamps of Life will be carrying the tri blends and anyone who is a gold member gets 20% off of everything! Tfs.

Wow thank you for this valuable information, you always save us money! I know I am happier with what I buy from what I have learned from your videos. Thank you OH What kind of printer do you use? Your color wheel looks great!

Thanks for all the helpful info. 👍 I like to see what’s out there. Having said that though I have decided to invest in Copic markers for any new colors I need or want. I love love love Prismacolor alcohol markers. They are excellent and at least in the past, were pretty much an industry standard for graphic designers and illustrators, at least here in the US. My gripe is that Prismacolor has not developed a refill system, which for me is a black mark against them. They are a big enough brand that should have been able to do that.. That’s been a big disappointment for me because I prefer to use them over Copic. When i’ve watched head to head reviews between Prismacolor and Copic, Prismacolor almost always ties with or maybe comes out a little bit ahead of Copic in terms of color quality. Their ink formula is excellent. I think Prismacolor has really dropped the ball on an opportunity to be THE alcohol marker of choice worldwide, but have ceded that to Copic, mostly due to Copic’s fantastic refill and part replacement system and of course, the high quality of their inks. I just don’t want to keep buying art supplies that are plastic that I have to PITCH once they’re done and buy an entirely new one IF there is a good refillable alternative. I also realize though that many people who may not use alcohol markers very often would not want to invest in Copic’s and so finding good, more affordable sets like this one or other brands is more practical. Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the review, it helped a lot. I have one question: where can I download the arteza colorwheel that you showed. Thanks.

Thank you for this comparison video, Lindsay. For a long time I considered getting the Arteza markers, but it was forever for them to get them back in stock. I almost purchased the Ohuhu Markers but I didn’t feel like they had a great color palette for blending dark to light. I did purchase a set of Caliart. I thought they had the brush nibs when I ordered them, but they came with the bullet nibs. I was disappointed and they wouldn’t exchange them. I am trying to practice my coloring and blending. So far, I found that flowers are more difficult to color and blend. Butterflies are easier for me. I so enjoy watching your videos!

Great review! I just wanted to add- I have the 144 set of the new everblends and I'm not a big fan of the packaging. The markers are in 4 smaller boxes that go inside one large lid and you have to carry the box upside down to prevent the 4 boxes of markers from falling out of the lid. You could place the boxes right side up inside the flipped upside down lid, but then you no longer have a lid. Then if you wanted to take the boxes back out and put the lid on properly you would have to flip everything upside down and probably spill your markers everywhere. I love the markers though! The packaging on the smaller packs looks like it makes a lot more sense.

Alcohol markers are a medium that I have never tried, and I cannot decide if I want to. I do, but then at the same time I suspect that I probably would not like them all too much because I think that I am not going to like the feeling of holding and using them. I have nightmarish visions of them feeling like the felt-tips I had in elementary school, making horrible squeaky-scrapy noises during use. I am curious though. Any recommendations as to what would be a good option for someone who just wants to have a try at this?

I searched their website and could not find a blending chart. Can you tell me how to get it please? (I have the original big set and have not used them cause I don't know what colors go with what) I think a chart would help.

Ha, I should have waited for your video, but alas I got the 144 on top of the 120 I already have. As for the brush markers, they look comparable to Copics and don’t seem to fray when using them, like Ohuhu. I bought the 144 storage bag for Ultra because the box was too cumbersome. Good idea on using them with Copics. I asked Arteza when they will be coming out with the 144 brush set and they said not anytime soon. The 36 is the biggest they will carry for now, so I need them to come out with the other 12 set, that carry the rest of the colours that are not in the other two 12 sets. Great review once again, at least I can’t be enabled 😂😂😂😂 Stay safe.
