Intel Core i9 10900K & Z490 5GHz+ overclocking guide

Quick overclocking guide to show you guys some basic steps to take to overclock your new 10th gen CPU to 5GHz and beyond using simple bios settings.

There are no guarantees with overclocking and every silicone has different properties and abilities and overclocking headroom as well. Use this guide is a guide rather than a guarantee and play with the settings are little and you may end up getting better or worse results then I have depending on the mix of hardware that you’re using. Also note that overclocking isn’t officially supported by INTEL in terms of warranty but they do have a protection plan for the CPUs and I believe it’s around US $20 mark. The most important thing to remember is take it slow take it easy and have fun don’t forget to have fun. If you have any questions write a comment and I’ll try and help you out and give you some tips from my experience.

Your video has been the most comprehensive and functional overclocking guide I've found so far. Liked subbed and overclocked/undervolted properly. Thank you!

hopefully finally tomorrow is the day!
I've been waiting like 6 years to get 5GHz+ stable, cancelled the 3900X and ordered up the 10900K!
thanks for the tips dude

also I use OCCT small and large data, also AIDA64 FPU.

This video came up at the perfect time!!!

I've been trying to decide between the Vision D and the Asus Z490-G (as an MATX build).. for my daily use, OC'd workstation, for AutoCAD (2D), Revit, Bluebeam & Lightroom, all single core CPU intensive use that crave high core clocks (NO gaming or rendering will ever see this setup!!)

Until this video, I couldn't find any info on the stability of overclocking the Vision D for workstation use.. just a couple ppl glossing over it suggesting that it "looks" likely to not be best for OC'ing "for gaming".

The PCIE 4 provisions were already weighing heavily in favor of the Vision D.. but now that I know it can stabily run the 10900k OC @/over 5GHz.. I think I got myself a winner here.

Thanks Mate.

Thanks for the guide. I wanted to have a baseline for my i9 10850k @ 5ghz. A lot of guides were pushing 5.1 or more. And I wanted something that would run cool and at Low voltage. I manged to run my chip at 1.215v similar llc. Max temps in cinebench r23 75c.

It seems I’m stable on air cooler at 5ghz 4.5 ring and 1.225 volts, worth going any lower on the voltage? I did stress test and hit 91c max temp decent silicon lottery ? What you think ?

Thanks for this. I have an auros master and a 10900k with a 360mm aio. Trying to get 5.2 or 5.3. Out of the chips you've OCed, what was the highest cpu vcore you had to set (I.e. the worst chip?) also is it OK to keep the eist and turbo enabled?

I’m on air cooler bro any tips ? Optimized defaults seems to run hot and of course I would like to gain a couple frames

What is your cpu cooler? Will the Noctua D15 enough for overclocking 10900k to 5.2ghz and keep it not over 80? Also whats your room temperature?

Thanks for this review. Just curious, is i9-10900K with Z490 future-proof? I'm debating whether I should get a "AMD 3950X + X570 mobo" combo or a "i9-10900K + Z490 mobo" combo now (mostly for playing MS Flight Simulator 2020 and maybe content creation like video editing), which combo would be more future-proof? Thanks!
