Dell XPS 13 9310 | Tiger Lake Laptop Review

Reviewing the Dell XPS 13 9310, a 2020 laptop refresh featuring Intel's Tiger Lake 11th Gen processor. This sleek ultraportable is taking on Apple's Macbook Air and Pro 13, boasting serious creative smarts with a skinny design. I've been testing the Dell XPS 13 9310 with gaming, video editing and other demanding tasks - and here's my final verdict vs the older 9300.

Check out my review of Dell's previous gen notebooks to see how the older versions stack up vs this Tiger Lake model. I'm hoping to test out the new 2-in-1 model soon too, for a proper comparison.

The main update here is the performance, thanks to that Tiger Lake platform. I found I could happily indulge in creative tasks like video and photo editing, while games that aren't too demanding also ran just fine.

That slender lightweight chassis is still highly portable, so you can carry the Dell XPS 13 9310 all day no worries. The FHD resolution keeps visuals sharp while the accurate colour reproduction is also great for creatives. So this laptop is perfect for entertainment as well as professional tasks.

So while it's not cheap, the XPS 13 is one of my favourite ultraportables heading into 2021.

"Alright lads, just dropped nearly 2 grand on this Dell laptop." *Starts eating Donor and chips over it*

Absolutely love your review! I have an old XPS and still loving it. But it's getting old and I've been looking for a new XPS because the experience is just unbeatable!

I've just bought a new one to replace one I'd had for four years, and which was beginning to show signs of failing. I'm very pleased with it so far. One small improvement I've noticed, is that the the gap between to top and the bottom, which used occasionally to pinch the flesh when the machine was being opened, has been re-designed to stop this happening. Recommended.

Intel has held the laptop segment back for over a decade. Technogly, especially mobile tech, has advanced so much over the past 10 years that laptops like these XPS, as great as they are, should start at $700 and not $1000. AMD coming in providing a cheaper alternatives is a good step I guess.

I dont usually leave comment on YouTube, but i think EVERYONE should know that xps 9310 model with UHD/4k screen will not work HDR at default 60 Hz. Screen will flicker intensely. Everyone on xps 13 Forum experienced the same issue without any hope for resolution. You must manually reduce the display refresh rate to 48 Hz. Dell support claims its software issue and no real solution yet, aside from email to contact their software support for $99.

Sadly still Intel. Would love to see XPS laptops with Zen 3 Cezanne. Especially the XPS 17

Too dear, seeing that for under $1, 400 you can get the same internals plus QHD display and 960 gram weight from the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Carbon. Oh, and it also comes with a bundle USB-C dock and lifetime Office Home & Student.

Great review! Do you feel like the full hd screen would be good enough to edit photos and some (4k) videos on? Or would it give a big benefit to have an ultra hd (4k) screen?

Thanks for the video! How will it do with some lite 4k editing?

Great review, mate - thanks! I bought the 9310 over the holidays (touchscreen). I've spec'd it w/the I7, 16GB Ram, 512GB SSD. HD+ is very nice; the 16 X 10 display 1920 by 1200 is crisp, sharp, and bright. I don't think a UHD 4K for a 13" laptop is necessary -- the HD+ is extremely nice for this size. Windows Pro. Not using many Apps - MS Office Pro 2019, and a couple of Adobe Apps (Ps and Lr). I've decided to not use Pr on this laptop, because I like more real estate with a couple of dual monitors for my video projects.

I also got a Logitech MX Master Bluetooth mouse, because I can't edit my photos with just the trackpad. My only knock was I wish this had more ports, but I guess to get the size and footprint to be this small, they had to limit the ports. And, the lack of a full size SD card reader is disappointing. Otherwise, I'm really enjoying this machine. The laptop is very sleek - looks nice, and has great build quality. I hope to be using this machine for years to come. Again - great review, thanks! -Rusty

xps would be so nice if they made under 1000 dollars

Nice but too expensive. I've got an Acer Aspire 3 for under £400 and it's good enough for everything.

Hey bro, I am in a trauma trying to decide if to buy the hp spectre 14(2021) or this laptop. But the reason why I am more of thinking to buy the spectre is that it has a USB port for thumbdrives..Is there a way you can get a thumbdrive port in the fell xps 13 too?
